On my first cruise I went for a facial and they used Elemis products. I enjoyed the facial, so  when I saw they were on the Q, I ordered.  I have to say they did nothing for me, and now that I know they are NOT cruelty free, I definitely will never order them ever again. It has been proven over and over again, that using animals to test is NOT necessary as there are other ways to do this, and it has been so for many years. There are so many products on the market where animals are not tortured and killed. Why not try some of them? I have heard responsible people, including doctors, say that skincare products do not do anything to prevent aging of the skin. Only surgery can. So, use moisturizer and sunscreen to keep your skin soft and from burning. And that's it! I admit I fall into the trap myself at times, but as I have gotten older and older, I have cut back on many products, and I am not seeing "horrible" things happen.

So...are you saying that dermatologists are a worthless bunch of over-educated nincompoops?

@Misty928

I never tried a facial on any of our cruises but that was before I was so into skincare.  I doubt it's uncommon for a product they used on the ship to be THE thing that helps you long-term (just because it felt good at the time).  You can believe what you want (naturally) but my skincare regimen DOES help my complexion.  I use moisturizer but I also use a lot of hydration (like, a lot!).  I'm quite dry.  Also use actives in the form of Vit C, Retinol and Glycolic Acid, every day.  I feel a lot of people underestimate the power of hydration and think they have it covered by using moisturizer.  Maybe if you're not dry, you don't need it.  I am and do.

I wouldn't doubt that there are derms that keep you coming back when they could offer you a treatment that would solve the problem.

@monicakm     Since they are MDs, wouldn't that be a violation of their Hippocratic Oath?      (I've only had some "spots" removed....so I don't have much experience with derms.)

I've had to deal professionally over the years with several derms. Some are just better than others.

If they have you coming back many times for the same issue, maybe what they used for treatment needs to be  changed because it isn't working. We're talking about product or RX choices, not care.

@Misty928   Each person's skin is different and needs/uses different skincare. Everyone's skin will age. We all "age". Even a facelift only lasts for 7-10 yrs. and then surgery again.

You do you.

We were in a cruise cabin that featured their shampoo.  I purchased two containers from the Elimis website with a great discount.  I don't think I'll repurchase but go back to my bar shampoo
