Thank you! Great advice; I am going to try this again with everyone's suggestions. How many days do I wait??

Listen to your hair. Give it a chance to see how it reacts to a formula. Use one formula solely for a week or a month to see what it does for your hair. Then use another formula the same way. Then if you need to, combine them. Trial and error!

Hello IowaLove! Welcome to the Wen forum!!! I would think it would be fine to use Wen with your other products, but you could call the salon to make sure. I remember that when I started using Wen, my head was a little itchy for a few days. Then after a week, it stopped itching. However, sometimes when I use fig, my scalp can be a little itchy. The cleansing conditioners have different base formulas and some have added amino acids to add strength and repair the hair. The sweet almond mint, tea tree, fig, lavender, and cucumber aloe are the wheat based cleansing conditioners. Pomegranate, the seasonals, and 613 are soy based. The Wen kids and bamboo green tea are rice based. The cleansing conditioners that have the extra amino acids are the seasonals, 613, and bamboo green tea. For some, the amino acids can cause dryness, but for some, it is super moisturizing. It just depends on what your hair needs. The best advice I can give is to maybe try the variety travel packs or the 6-piece discovery kit. This way you can try all the cleansing conditioners to see which one works best for your hair. I would also recommend the oils. The oils are amazing. They add so many benefits to your hair and skin. They also smell sooo good. The cleansing conditioners will cleanse the oils out of your hair beautifully. I think sometimes people are afraid of the oils because they feel the Wen cc's will not get the oils out of their hair. When used correctly, I believe the cleansing conditioners cleanse better than shampoo. But at the same time, Wen doesn't strip your hair. I wish you luck on your Wen journey. Remember, there is a learning curve when it comes to how much to use, etc. If you need help, the ladies on this forum are always willing to help. Happy Wenning!!!

Ahhh you bought your kit from Guthy Renker, from the infomercial. First, I hope you know that you have been signed up for auto-delivery and they are going to charge your card every month unless you cancel.

Iowa, you can/should call GR Customer Service to change your auto-delivery to 5 months. By that time, you should know how frequently you need to order and what products to order. They are very accommodating, and want to keep you happy. They only bill you if you have an order; just like QVC EZ Pay.

When you call them, get recommendations for your hair needs. More than likely, they will send you samples. That's how I discovered Fig and Tea Tree, which are two of my staples.

Also, in a few weeks, they will send you an email for free shipping for life. Take them up on it! That will make their pricing less than QVC's.

IowaLove, welcome to the Wen forum and welcome to Wen!!!

You've gotten a lot of great advice above, so I just wanted to point you towards a few Wen threads that might be of interest to you. Wen 101 thread provides a lot of general information about Wen. A different thread which is also called Wen 101 has a lot of variations on how people cleanse their hair. Wen - Cleansing Conditioner Discovery Kits available at QVC give an overview on the kits that allow you to try a number of different CCs.

That said, I agree with what ChynnaBlue said about taking it slowly. Just take your time and get a handle on the Wen basics first.

Best of luck!!

Hi Iowa! I wrote you another response but for some reason it didn't post... The oils are available here on the Q--but Chaz also sells them on his site(The Lav is still $20). The new formula here on the Q has less jojoba and more botanicals because of the failure of jojoba crops over the last few years. The 'original' formula with more jojoba is pretty much sold out here, but the Lavender one is still on his site--I stock up every few weeks.lol For thinning hair though, I highly recommend the Tea Tree oil. The difference it made in my hair density and rate of regrowth was astounding!! If you use that with the tea tree cleansing conditioner, your hair will grow much more quickly--at least I found that to be true. And I really did have thinning hair that was also damaged and wrecked--and Wen really did make a 'life changing' difference for me.

The seasonal and Pomegranate cleansing conditioners are soy-based. Sweet almond, Lavender, Cucumber Aloe and Fig are wheat based. Bamboo green tea and the kids formulas are all rice based. If you had some itchiness from the OrangeBlossom(which is a seasonal/soy based) maybe switching to one of the wheat or rice would help? I would recommend starting with Sweet Almond, which is universal for all hair types, and going from there--like if you need more moisture, try Fig --if you need more volume, try lavender. I started with Fig but my hair was way too scraggily and it weighed my hair down...but as my hair has gotten thicker/longer, I can use it no problem.

Just one quick thing too...Water is your friendSmiley Happylol You don't have to scrub the heck out of your scalp for Wen to work--You need to get water throughout the hair and through the scalp. Water is what loosens anything and really starts the process--the cleansing conditioner is what removes the 'dirt'--but the more you can get water throughout your hair and scalp, the more it mixes with the Wen and really makes it effective. I hope that makes sense? It's not about the amount of water you use, it's getting it through to your scalp so it's saturated.

As someone who also had thinning hair, I really can't say enough good stuff about Wen and the huge difference it's made in my hair...I wouldn't post if it didn't do everything I've said it does. Smiley Happy
