I'm for shopping the perimeter of the grocery store and learning how to navigate the social/work situations that get you into trouble. I'm a WW person.

I had great success with NutriSystem because after a month of eating that horrible mess, and actually gaining weight, I was more determined than ever to lose weight on my own program. Counting calories is the key. Once you get that part down, you WILL lose weight. I love the way I eat and I am not restricted from eating just about anything I want. In moderation, of course. I'm proof that calorie intake is important. Once I lost, I've stayed at the same weight for the past 6 years.

The cost of the NutriSystem meals are extremely high considering what all you have to purchase to go along with it. And, you better like lettuce. You'll be eating a lot of it! You can easily duplicate that food for much less at the grocery store. IMO you are paying for a program that is nothing more than teaching you about portion control. Duh.

I lost over 100 lbs. on Nutrisystem . Did I like everything I tried? No way, but it was a means to an end. I had tried every popular plan out there including Weight Watchers (numerous times; I never could figure out the points) and Optifast. Something about NS clicked with me. I've maintained my weight loss for over a yr. and a half, use My Fitness Pal and work out daily. I occasionally incorporate Lean Cuisine, but you really have to read the labels. Many are quite high in calories. Good luck whatever you choose!

We tried Nutrisystem (from their site) for 1 month. It was a good way to jump start our weight loss. There were some foods we didn't care for but there is enough variety and we swapped meals also. I lost 20 lbs. in that month and dh lost 30. We had to supplement a lot of foods in addition to the kit. After the month, we continued our eating plan from NS and made our own meals, which were healthier and we continued to lose.

Here is the link to the grocery list we used: www.nutrisystem.com/pdf/GroceryGuide.pdf

I guess bfast sandwiches are popular. A friend sent me this link telling me how much he likes this sandw. maker.

I lost 35 pounds on NutriSystem when it first came to our area. It was about 20 years ago and you had to go weigh-in, see a nurse, and attend meetings every week. It was expensive. Half the food was horrible and half was o.k. - may have changed by now.

I started gaining that weight back just as soon as I stopped the program. What's worse, I gained even more weight back than I lost. It was money down the drain. That's the way it was with any diet I tried. I lose weight, then gain even more back when I failed.

My nurse practitioner told me to STOP dieting. She said, each time you see me, I'm going to give you instructions on what I want you to do. That day, she told me to try and work more whole grains into my meals. At my next appointment, I was shocked to see I had lost weight. Then, she told me to start trying to eat more fruit. Then, more veggies, etc. She NEVER said to stop eating any foods that I liked, so I never felt deprived. If I wanted a food, I ate it. But what I found was that as I worked those foods into my diet slowly, I just got used to eating them, and the more of the "good foods" I worked into my meals, the less bad foods I ate.

Sure, it took a few years, but I've lost 48 pounds. I've finally, the first time in my life, have kept that weight off. No more yo-yo dieting. If I hadn't done what my nurse practitioner suggested, I hate to even say what I'd weigh now.
