no see um bugs!!!

i get eaten alive during the day in my yard hanging laundry etc i cant spray cuz i have animals and a garden i hate sparyin bug spray all over myself but these bites last days!!!!!! any one know of anything to either put on myself thats not toxic or in the yard????
