I have mature normal skin. Though I don't wear foundation every day, I don't like the feel of liquid foundation. I'd like to use either Laura Gellar or Bare Essentials. I've seen Laura Gellar commercials on TV mentioning Balance and Brighten for mature skin. Is that something new or just saying it can be used on aging skin? I've used both years ago, but am 71 years old now. Any help is appreciated in making my choice.

Re: need help with foundation

@catter70  I'm pretty sure Geller's product is the same as always. I have to say though, after years of using it (and I still do) I've begun alternating with (among other things) Physcian's Formula B&B powder and I really like it.

Re: need help with foundation

@catter70 I don't like liquid foundation either because I feel it accentuates lines, texture, etc. I love powder foundations that don't look powdery on the skin. I use and love both Laura Geller and Pur, though I prefer the finish I get from Laura Geller's, which is satiny and not too shiny. The only negative I have about that one is that I'm between shades. I do wish she'd come out with more!

@stevieb how do they compare? I'm intrigued because maybe PF has a better shade for me.

@Texasmouse  The PF compact, for me, provides good coverage but without having to build it quite as much as B&B. It also has an SPF. Moreoever, it seems to me there is only one choice but the color works for me beautifullly. It's often out of stock and sometimes hard to find. The Geller product, however, lasts a good bit longer. The PF powder is very light weight and I use my Geller retractable brush to apply. Many days, I use only it, a touch of blush, setting spray and I'm done.

@stevieb would you say it has a matte finish?

@Texasmouse  Yes, I detect no glitter or shine. I also don't care for liquid foundation. I do like loose power but it can get messy, so I usually stick with a compact. On one occasion, however, my PF came crushed, so I mashed it up into powder and put it in an empty container. Because one gets more on the brush this way, the application was even easier and the coverage even better but, of course, it didn't last as long.

@stevieb thanks again! I see it's hard to find, as you say. Even on the PF website, it's currently out of stock.
