Re: need help with foundation

I have mature normal skin. Though I don't wear foundation every day, I don't like the feel of liquid foundation. I'd like to use either Laura Gellar or Bare Essentials. I've seen Laura Gellar commercials on TV mentioning Balance and Brighten for mature skin. Is that something new or just saying it can be used on aging skin? I've used both years ago, but am 71 years old now. Any help is appreciated in making my choice.

@catter70  - I like Laura's BnB and have for a long time.  I'm 69 and still use it, however, I prefer a liquid foundation or CC cream.  But when I do want a powder foundation, BnB is the only one I use.  It goes on easily, blends well, staying power is good for me, and I like how it looks.  The Light is the one I have right now, have tried the Medium but at times it can be a bit dark on me so went to the Light.

I am finding at this age (same) that it is all about the base of what I add to the skin. I might be talking about primer but I do moisturize, then apply a base that likes my skin and locks in moisture, then sunscreen, then the makeup.

'By the middle of the day, I can look in the mirror and feel pleased with the look of my facial skin if I do this routine.

Hope this helps!

Am close to 79 and I started to use Balance and Brighten / Glow.  Use the slanted retractable brush.

Re: need help with foundation

@stevieb @Can you please tell me exactly which Physician Formula powder you like? I was curious after reading your post, so I went to Amazon to look it up, but I didn't see one specifically called b&b powder. Thanks, in advance, for your help with this.

Re: need help with foundation

@catter70 - I was a huge fan of everything Laura UNTIL she sold her company to Glansaol (run by a former Revlon CEO), who later went bankrupt. The formulas seemed to me to be different with the new owners. "Laura Geller" was bought out again by AS Beauty, who acquired Julep and Clark Botanicals as well. They sold Clark Botanicals back to the family, and planned to market Julep and LG to younger and older audiences respectively.

They focused LG on older audiences, with spokespeople like Fran Drescher and Patricia Heaton.

I noticed the formulas seemed to be returning to the LG I "discovered" at QVC over 15 years ago.

So I'm back to loving her products. I wear Fair in Balance and Brighten. I love the way it goes on and the way my skin looks. I like that I can wear it as a light coverage or a little heavier if I want. I rely on her blushes; they are my favorite. This past summer I tried her blush sticks, and I like them as well.  Smiley Happy

Re: need help with foundation

I've used both and my favorite is LGeller. It really is a multi task product. It is so lithgt on the skin yet your skin looks great. A little goes a long way and it is goof proof.

Hope it works for you like it does for me.

@Goldengate8361  It's Physicians Formula Super BB All-in-1 Beauty Balm Powder SPF 30 and it is often hard to find. They sell it on the PF website, but it's out of stock now and often is. Last time they had it, I ordered two! There are vendors selling it on Amazon now in light-medium, which is the color I use and the only color I've ever seen, but the prices they're charging are about two to three times the price this product usually sells for. I like the product but would not pay that for it.

I do agree that when I really want to look my best, I use Geller's Spakle in the champagne choice. Primers really make a difference.

I would also add that the Physician's Formula Mineral Pressed Powder is also very good, but the Creamy Natural color is, again, hard to find and the translucent doesn't provide me with the coverage I want.
