Hi Smiley Happy

I buy expensive make up base from Lancome and Estee Lauder because it seems to not settle into my wrinkles and enhance them.  Any recommendations for drug store brands that are high quality, have SPF, last all day, and do not enhance the wrinkles?  I'm trying to save money!

Thank you!!!  Smiley Happy

@tweety123  Try L’Oreal True Match SPF 17 (not nearly enough sunscreen), but ample shades & good coverage. Just for me apply another spf 30, at least, on face, neck and chest. It doesn’t matter what’s in a foundation. You’ll never apply enough to be safely protected. Hope you like it.

I always thought a makeup base was different from a foundation. To me a base is more like a primer but without giving you a slip and smoothness. Bases are not as effective at preventing creasing but will prolong wear time just as a primer will do.

@SilleeMee I think some people use the terms interchangeably. If a foundation or base seems to drag, settle in lines, even if I’ve applied primer first, I add a few drops of primer to the foundation, blend in hand & it applies more smoothly. Most people put foundation from tube or bottle on back of hand and dab w/ brush or sponge from there. I was taught to put it in palm of my hand...warmer and the heat helps smooth the makeup...works for concealer, primer, any cream or liquid products.

I buy what is on sale in a local drug store (CVS) or a box store (Walmart) or from Avon online. If I get the color right, I am good to go.  I am fair and a cool complexion and sometimes the colors are too warm.  Otherwise I am happy with just about anything.  And I am a senior citizen.

Hi @Katcat1, one of my makeup buddies. I have a diy rosewater setting spray, but only use it after applying BE Powder Foundation...not so much for setting as to be sure there’s no powder look.

I use Chanel Health Glow Les Beiges or The Nudes - it's wonderful.  I've used it for years.  It's $60 but worth every penny.  And the bottle lasts - all you need is one pump.  And it's a small amount.  It does wonders for my 66 year old skin.  I can't imagine using a drugstore brand after this.

@FranandZoe  I’ve never purchased drugstore foundation or concealer. Since it’s the most important item to have a perfect match/texture, it’s worth the money to me to go to dept. store lines. I’d rather save on other makeup.

I used to try and change foundation as the wind would blow looking for a perfect one..spent alot of money!    for quite a few years now I have been using LOREAL VISIBLE LIFT...and I LOVE it.   I know longer search for the perfect one...  drugstore..usually around 13.00.   a deal!      people compliment my makeup all the time...and ask what I use.

@tweety123 I like Lancome foundations and Estee Lauder's Double Wear is on my list of as good as it gets. However, I understand wanting to try something and possibly save some money.  In my opinion the only foundation in the drugstore which you may feel is closely comparable to the ones you are using is L'Oreal's True Match. It has SPF, but I honestly don't think anyone should be counting on their makeup for skincaring sun protection.

I have one, too! @Shanus Mine has rosewater to which I add a few drops of green tea extract. The extract I use is alcohol-free and is glycerin-based so it adds just a touch of dewy hydration. I use this spray to knock down the powdery appearance from powder foundation or when I just need a boost of hydration.

@tweety123--ok I'm confused--do you want a foundation or just a primer? I guess the word base has me wondering--foundation is a base and so is primer----I LOVE Smashbox Camera ready  water bb cream with 30 spf, which I use as my foundation and also Maybelline has a really good one called Fit me with spf of 18. Both are very light weight.
