Sometimes extreme slimness is not to be envied or a goal worth trying to reach.   Remember how Diana attained her slight body.  Don't worry be happy.

Health must always be number one.  Without health, nothing else matters.

Health requires diligence and care, even if one is blessed with good genes, a loving upbringing, and a positive environment (other critical factors).

Those who have lots of funds available can also hire personal chefs, personal trainers, many assistants, and limit their duties (and stresses) as they choose.

Finally, I also think that perspective plays a critical role.  Although we may self-criticize our own (imagined) deficiencies, others may not see us with the same negative view.  It is important to appreciate what we have, to strive to do better if possible, and to have compassion for ourselves and others, the majority who do not meet the definition of "movie star" or "princess" perfect.

Re: What's w/ the "Weight?".. & "Beauty?"

HI @JoyFilled Warrior

I can relate.  Throughout my life I have been up and down weight wise.  Granted those fluctuations usually related to what was happening in my life at the time-- whether I was taking care of myself or throwing caution to the wind.

I have been both up and down in weight, in both good and bad times.  So when I look at my own life, I don't have a pattern.  The only pattern is my choices.  But I don't regret anything and I don't mean this as a put down to myself or anyone, if you know what I mean.

I think specifically for women like the Duchesses, massive public attention has to play a role in their choices.  The scrutiny and criticism these ladies face.  I couldn't handle it. I am not saying they need my pity.  LOL. Just that I couldn't deal with it.

My mother was always slender.

She said after having both of her children, she was exercising several weeks later to return to her normal weight.

Its not a big mystery.

I lost 20 lbs years ago. Eat well and exercise is the key.

Re: What's w/ the "Weight?".. & "Beauty?"

@JoyFilled Warrior   I really appreciate your reflective and insightful post.  Clothes/fashion require the reality check of body size, whereas  jewelry, shoes, bags, a new lip gloss does not.  Some look great in clothing, but are anorexic and/or bulimic hides their disease easily because of outward acceptance or even admiration.  Our "wonder" and "admiration" may be misplaced.

Shopping for bathing suits or a special occasion can be traumatic.  Weight loss/gain requires a lifestyle change unlike our standbys that we might use to calm, appease, or reassure ourselves.

i can relate to your comments and throughout my life.have considered why some lifestyle changes can be such a challenge when we know the rewards. Perhaps because the easier route for instant gratification can provide the endorphins and a temporary fix without the required effort for permanent lifestyle changes.

The positive outcome is that we can, to an extant,  have it all in the realm of beauty....make-up, clothing/fashion/body -  we have to be willing to change and have the discipline/motivation to accomplish our goals in some of those areas.  And, for some, the efforts just are not a priority.

In the end, our values, ethics, interests, motivation will largely determine our lifestyles regarding weight/beauty. (Outward beauty is not a high priority in my life, but weight is in that it can determine our health so that is incorporated into my lifestyle.)  Thanks for the thought provoking post.
