I don't use either company's products, but I see a slight difference here. Was Chaz Dean the first to introduce the idea of not using shampoo but instead using a cleansing conditioner?

If so, I would imagine that to sell people on that idea, he would have to explain the reason for them to make that change, which by definition would require him to state his opinion about shampoos.

Nick Chavez is selling shampoo, which is still the most used product to cleanse hair. He can subtly bash other shampoos by touting his special ingredients or whatever, but it seems unnecessary for him to bash a totally different method of hair cleansing.

No, he isn't the first person to use conditioners as cleansers.

Not by a long shot - although his followers like to think so.

I believe on QVC he is the first (and only) to bring cleansing conditioners, no?

The hosts are not loyal to wen or nick. They are paid to sell sell sell whatever product they are hosting.

I don't use either vendors products, but, IMO only, I seriously doubt that vendors have any say in which hosts are there for their time slots. That is a decision that would be completely up to QVC. Again, just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. Smile

He wasn't the first, but he has most certainly made the biggest dent in the market and the one everyone else is chasing.

Why the pot shot at WEN folks though....so uncalled for.

Hmmm, well, picked this up from yahoo beauty, for what it's worth:

"Many women with curly hair have adopted the term “co-washing” for years, skipping shampoo altogether in favor of conditioner, which can remove residue and surface dirt from the strands. The idea started with California-based hairstylist Chaz Dean, the creator of Wen as well as the concept of cleansing conditioner. “I had never heard of co-washing prior to 1993,” he says. “I gave up lather after I realized it was stripping my hair and my clients’ hair; using harsh shampoos breaks hair down, leaving it finer, thinner and weaker.”"

Re: does nick chavez refuse to work with the hosts who are wen users?

Hello, NJ4Jays. Smile

I don't think the Nick gets to choose which models to use his product on. I think Nick and Chaz probably know that the QVC models like to use lots of different products on their hair. And I don't think they mind. Perhaps it's all just a friendly competition between the two. They both know that they're on QVC to sell their product.

Yes, I did ask for a sub-forum for Nick Chavez, but I'm fine with the thread I started. To be honest though, I do wish people would stop saying things like, "I'm up to something or have an agenda or trying to create competition between Nick and Chaz." I just want to post about Nick Chavez and his products because I like him and his products a lot. No agenda or anything like that.

I'm not trying to have a pity party, gain sympathy or feel sorry for myself, but I do wish that people would stop posting this verbal jabs at me. I've never said anything bad or mean about Chaz or his product (I think his blue eyes are kind of pretty and cute), so at the very least I would like people to stop saying these things about me. Can't they just leave me be?

I know, I know. Grow a thicker skin is what some are probably going to say. I have put some people on ignore (but can still see their posts when someone quotes them) and I've seen some of the things said about me as of late. I didn't engage or respond to it, thinking it would stop if I just didn't engage. I've even tried not to mention Chaz's name or the product he sells, thinking that would help as well. But it seems to have gotten a bit worse and I would like for things to calm down a bit....more than a bit.

I don't want the mods to have to play babysitter for me because I know that we're all adults here and people can post what they wish. But still....I would ask the people mocking me and thinking that I'm up to something to please not do that anymore.

Re: does nick chavez refuse to work with the hosts who are wen users?

As I said when I first posted in response to the OP's "seemingly" innocent question, I don't think any jabbing threads or threads meant to provoke posters one way or another based on a vendor, is helpful or "good behavior". It simply has the effect of pitting posters against each other. As the saying goes, "Two wrongs don't make a right". Stick to the products and comment on that. It is bad enough that vendors stoop to make comparisons to sell their product.

Has Chaz and WEN been the overwhelming brunt of posters' vicious criticisms and Chavez escaped relatively free? Yes, by a long shot. Is the answer to bring another vendor down? Absolutely not. I wish the monitors would exercise their authority to pull down all the obvious WEN agenda threads, because in my opinion SO many are. If people think that pitting one vendor's products against another through vilifying the vendor will change who buys what product, they are sorely mistaken. It has the opposite effect in my opinion - just entrenches people's choices and adds to posters attacking each other.

I am so so sick of these host and vendor bashing posts!! Watch what you want and ignore what you don't and buy what you do as an informed consumer.

Re: does nick chavez refuse to work with the hosts who are wen users?

I think Chaz and Nick are just selling their products and describing how they work. Nick was once helping the host with one of those QVC Discovery Beauty Kits where you get a little bit of almost everything. When the host got to the product Chaz sells, Nick actually said, "if you want something sulfate-free, use WEN. We're all team players here."

So, I don't think there's a rivalry between Chaz and Nick. Of course they're going to say that their own product is better. They have to sell it. But I think when they're backstage with each other, they're probably laughing, joking and telling storing about random things to each other.

Re: does nick chavez refuse to work with the hosts who are wen users?

My opinion? Both of these vendors are extremely successful at what they do. I use products that both of them sell, so I'm not favoring one over the other. I have no problem with any vendor being a bit boastful, that his/her product is better. That's what I expect. I also expect the q hosts to say they love this vendor's products...when they are on air with him/her.
