I wish I had a suggestion for you HouseMouse.  I got a hair cut 2 weeks ago that I can't stand.  My hair looks awful no matter what I do to it!  Can't wait for it to get longer so I can get a decent cut!

I hope you get some suggestions/replies.

You might want to consider a synthetic top piece or wig till it grows out.  We have a "very master stylist" in our area.  He has been all over Europe and has been cutting hair for a long time.  He is really good.   You pay $59. for the haircut but once you have a cut you love.....go show it to the stylist of your choice.  A master cutter....I mean...... a real master cutter (such as the makeover guy on you tube) really know anything and everything from hairlines, face shapes, how your hair will lay, cowlicks, texture, upkeep, and so much more!  I will see if I can find that website for you.

My suggestion is :  cut it yourself!

You have been a student all these years,  watching someone else cut it.  You probably have a very good handle on how to do it yourself.  I've been cutting my own for two years now and I always get the cut I want.

Smile, it makes everyone wonder what you're up to!

I found it.  Just type in The Makeover Guy  you tube  on your search bar.  I agree with always taking pictures with you.

I cut my own hair and have for years. My biggest problem has been stylists who cut off too much and don't listen.

I share your frustration.  Went yesterday for a body perm.  She used large rods as I didn"t want tight curls.  After taking rods out, she blew my hair dry.  Needless to say, I had a head of straw.  I told her this was not the look I wanted.   2 of them started with hot rollers and a curling iron.  I had a smooth bob, again not what I wanted.  Today it looks horrible.  So $75 later my hair is a mess.  I can't wash it til tomorrow when I will have to condition it .  Point is even after a consultation and showing her pictures and discussing what I wanted, she did what SHE wanted.  And this was not a young girl but a woman who has been in business many years.  Can't remember the last good experience at a hairdresser.

I have had my share of hairdressers that just do what THEY want and not what YOU want.  Ask friends who they go to if they are happy with their cuts. Never let them turn you AWAY from the mirror.....

I finally found one and she is the best....when I say TRIM...I get a trim...not a hack job.

Unfortunately ...you just have to let it grow out or try extensions
