? about nail polish

Hi, Smiley Happy

I usually don't wear nail polish. Recently, I found a color I like...Essie's Sugar Daddy.

How do I prepare my nails for the polish? I know to be sure they are clean....no lotions etc.

Is there anything else I should or should not do?
