I can understand why you'd want to give yourself a "lift" by making a change in your makeup. Times like these, I either change my hair style or my makeup colors. So sorry to hear you lost your mom - remember the happy memories to help you heal.
No recommendations from me since my favorite foundation ever is a "cheap drugstore foundation." I hope you're happy with the Clinique.

I have not posted here in years, and even then have only participated a handful of times. But I completely understand what you're going through.
In addition to a new foundation, you might try a restorative masque to help your skin get infused and reinvigorated. Sephora has started selling single packs, and they vary according to what you want to accomplish: radiance, help for fatigued skin, etc. They're only $6 and give you a big bang for your buck. It could be just what you need to perk your skin up. Plus, lying for 15 minutes with it soothing your face is restorative for your soul.
I, too, am olive toned and always feel that my foundation is too pale. I am really liking Benefit's "The Big Easy" BB cream. It gives me that oomph without making me orange or too tan. It never feels greasy and I put it on and forget about it for the rest of the day. I wear it over lotion and sometimes primer, but you can wear it straight-up and it still looks gorgeous.
I wish you all the best with your struggle, and with your father, and hope that peace comes your way.

I am sorry for the loss of your mother. It sounds like you have had a rough year and deserve a little pampering.
What works best for me is to go to a makeup counter, have them try the foundation on you and (if you like it) have them give you a sample to take home. That saves having to return it. I was given a sample to take home. I knew in a couple of days that I loved it so I went back and bought it. I did, however, use the sample up first to be sure I could still return the unopened bottle if need be. The sample lasted me 2 weeks!!!! Also, I would ask for someone who has worked that line awhile. I find I have much better luck with someone who really knows their product. I am in my 60's and also have a b-day coming up in Feb. I tend to have better luck with the "more mature" (ha!) make up ladies. I didn't mention which foundation. My skin is the opposite of yours. Good luck!

So sorry about losing your mother. You are doing the right thing by taking care of yourself and it will make you feel better. I lost my mother, sister and father within a 4 year period and found eating right, taking care of my skin, joining a gym and taking a water aerobic class all helped. Keeping busy and feeling good helps with the grief.
I am almost 60 and posted on another thread about the many foundations I have tried. So hard to get the color right, not have it turn color during the day, the dewy types would just wipe off onto anything I would come in contact with and, and the cost of some of this stuff is just too high if not completely in love with the coverage and color match.
From a recommendation here, I have been using Boots No. 7 in Cool Beige and the perfect match for me all year. Wouldn't think that name would be a match but about the best I have found. I use the Protect and Perfect. I bought that and a Lift & Luminate to try and then stuck with the first. I buy it at Target and you can try it and return if you don't care for it.
Good luck and again, sorry for your loss.

IT Cosmetics CC Cream with IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Powder over it. They sell it on QVC, but it is also sold at Ulta and you can go there, apply it and see how it works for you throughout the daym, in daylight, etc. Here's a video by a woman who is in her fifties that uses this combo (I'm 66):
