I tried a sample of alterna shampoo and conditioner and loved it.  It was an old sample which was "hemp" and I don't think they make it anymore.  My hair looked awesome!

I see the main two types of products is cavier and bamboo.  What is the difference?

My natural color is white but I have it colored a brown with blonde highlights.  My hair is very thick and naturally very coarse (think horse hair).  I also blow dry and flat iron my hair daily.  I know that is bad, but I have very tough hair.

Which line would be best for me?

I tried looking at their website, but no matter what I click on I get a page error.

Thanks!

I haven't tried the bamboo line, but I love the caviar shampoo and conditioner, and the Alterna CC leave-in hair perfector has worked miracles for me.  I started using it a few months ago, and no more frizz--even when it's raining and humid outside.  The CC has a heat protectant, which would be good for you since you use hot tools every day.

Re: Which Alterna?

Thanks Vac!  I was just so impressed how my hair looked after 1 use that I have to get some of this stuff.

I just bought a big bottle of fairly expensive shampoo that I need to use up first before I buy more shampoo, but I am going to buy the conditioner.  I was eyeing that leave in conditioner.

Thanks again!

Do you use the regular conditioner plus the leave in?  Thanks!

@mima@vac  My hairdresser gave me samples of the light purple caviar line and the dark purple caviar line.

I am liking the dark purple caviar shampoo and conditioner.

My hair is thin and fine/graying/colored/and the stuff must be gluten-free.

I ordered a "try-me" kit from Amazon and it has the shampoo, conditioner, and two other products.

The company has assured me that the type I ordered is indeed gluten-free.  I am really loving it.

Both of the lighter purples (the Rx formula) left a film on my hair that attracted dirt.  I like as little of that as possible, so I ordered the less moisturizing one.

@LTT1 Thanks for the info.  I didn't know there was a try me kit and I also didn't know there were two different cavier lines.  I'll check them out!

@mima

There are at least three types of Caviar products.  I will insert a picture of which one I ended up with.  Although if your hair is thicker than mine, you might like the Caviar Rx even more...

Alterna anti aging dark purple moisturizing.jpg

As you can see, this set is classified as "Moisturizing" and it certainly is.  The spray is a scalp elixer and the CC cream is a 10 in 1 something.  The three in the squeeze tubes state "gluten-free" on the tube.  This is from Amazon but has a "sephora" sleeve.

Yes, but I rotate in Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner, so I don't use Alterna with every shampoo.  I do use the leave-in though, no matter what shampoo and conditioner I use.  That stuff is really awesome!

Both of you have been very helpful!  Thank you.

I think I will order the dark purple.  Even though my hair is dry, I forgot to mention that my scalp is oily.  I am also going to order the cc cream!

Thank you!
