Re: When does formula matter?

This Winter: BGT is my favorite (sob aside) but I think the CC is causing weird breakouts around my hairline. Nowhere else on my scalp and I use the RTM all over my body with no issues, so I hope it is something else. Do any of the oils bother you?

OOOH sorry about the breakouts! That's odd it's just around your hairline. It may very well be something else.

Yes, some of the oils bother me. I can use the TT oil (it's a daily staple especially on my sensitive scalp) and the seasonal oils but the other oils are no gos for me. I love the WCM oil though, and the SMC too.

I usually do TT on my scalp the night before a wash and a seasonal on my ends. Then I wash the next day.

Re: When does formula matter?

"Universal" is such a misnomer. You really have to experiment to see what your hair needs. My hair is really healthy, wavy, a little on the thin side. Right now I'm loving TT/Fig/613. I don't like POM (gives me the frizzies) or any of the seasonals (drying and flat) EXCEPT FAS (which of course is no longer available!). I think so many factors affect what works for you.

The really "special" formulas seem to be Tea Tree (because it is said to promote a healthy scalp and therefore helps hair growth) and 613 (which has all the super amino acids).

Unfortunately it doesn't always correspond with which CC is best for my hair. To recap: CC and SC matter, oil is universal but could be chosen based on essential oil functions. Is everything else fair game? You mentioned the RTM, remoist, and texture balm. How about Mousse, VTS, GS, FTC? I would guess scent only since they aren't available in all scents. Does it matter at all for skincare:BCC or the lotion?

You got it!! CC most definitely matters, and there are slight differences in the styling creams (due to the essential oils used). I know some of the other ladies are more knowledgeable and will correct me if I'm wrong, but I "think" that the lightest weight (in SC) are TT and CA, medium are POM and LAV, and the heaviest/thickest are FIG and SAM.

I think the other products should perform the same, regardless of scent, but, of course, everyone has different experiences. I've never heard Chaz mention any differences regarding the body products.

Oh, and I think most of the POM products are nut free. Hope that helps!

I had the same problem with Fig! I'm on a break from it for this problem. I thought is was because, I went a little overboard. Fig CC and RTM and REmoist, as leave-in.

I've been using TT and 613 and SAM.

I don't like POM because it's not moisturizing enough for me. Unfortunately, nothing moisturizes my hair like FIG. I hope one day I can go back to it. But, right now I am taking a long break.
