When Do You Apply Your Mascara & Eyeliner?

Everyone I know (and have asked) applies their eyeliner and then mascara last! I can't do it. Never have and I'm 52. My mascara has to go on first because of the mess I make on my eyelids. I put on two coats and then one more (gently applied) coat at the end to cover up any eyeshadow fallout. Putting on mascara before eyeliner makes the eyeliner application more difficult and if I try doing eyeliner mascara last (always a disaster) the liner that gets on my lashes causes separation issues with my lashes {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} Apparently most of you don't have to work with your lashes to get them to separate and go the direction they need to. Just wonderin'. Wish I could do that eyeliner/mascara last. Would make things much easier.
