What is the difference between a beauty blender and a duplicate?

I have one (dup) from CVS that is rather hard and only good for concealer on your face. I have a dup from ebay that expands when wet and really does a nice job. It is gourd shaped and pliable. It was 3 for 4.44, so you can't beat the price. I just wondered what the difference may be. TIA.

I haven't tried a dupe...only because friends have and are not happy. I swear by Beauty Blender and the airbrushed finish I get is beyond. Regardless of the foundation I use and I have several...high end, low end. They last a long time and one of my fave products.

Re: What is the difference between a beauty blender and a duplicate?

I had 4 or 5 dupes and the Beauty Blender. I tossed the dupes. The main difference is the texture of the BB and how soft and pliable it is after wet. The texture leaves a beautiful air brush finish and it does not eat up a lot of the foundation.

I will say that the Real Techniques for 5.99 is the very best dupe. Dry, they feel very different but once you wet the RT and squeeze it out, the texture and pliability and bounce are almost spot on to the BB. If they were the same shape, I would say it is a perfect dupe when wet.

The dupes I got online may be like the Real Techniques. It has a bounce to it and is very pliable plus it leaves a beautiful finish when wet and squeezed out. The CVS one is like a rock. TY.

Re: What is the difference between a beauty blender and a duplicate?

This is one case where every single review I've read that compares the Beauty Blender to a dupe, ANY dupe, has rated the Beauty Blender as the superior product. I've been tempted to buy the cheaper ones, but I haven't because I can't find one person to say "this is just as good as the original." I also haven't bought the original because it's not cheap and I don't really see a need for it for me.
