Just curious, does the website or packaging say "Not tested on animals" or "No animal testing" or "We don't test on animals" ?

At the time I wrote them, they did not have a website. I haven't checked for a website since. I don't have a package of the product to check.

Re: What do you think about this response from a company regarding being cruelty-free?

To the best of our knowledge, etc., is a b.s. legal cope out.

That is what their legal division told them to say since that company did not wish to be held liable, if animals have been tested by anyone they are affiliated with, regarding various procedures utilized which may be required in the testing or formulation and sale, of any of their products sold to consumers, or anyone else.

That is the usual legal cope out which gets them off the hook legally, without having to state anything else.

When someone states that I know the answer is they may do animal testing or they may not, but I tend to believe they do because if they did not they would have nothing to hide and would not use that b.s. cope out legally evading the question.

This way they ensure consumers not learn the truth, because the company certainly knows the truth if they are representing it and are the manufacturer. By law they have to know, but do not necessarily have to legally share that information with anyone else.

Would I purchase from any company who does this........NO!!!!!!

I think regardless of what it means, I am not comfortable with the answer and will not purchase the product. I want a company to unequivocally tell me they don't test and don't use suppliers that still test. period.

Thanks for all your feedback!

To the best of their knowledge may be as truthful as they can get. If they buy something from a supplier who does not test on animals, THAT supplier may not have been as thorough about THEIR suppliers. Sometimes it's very difficult to track all the way back to the very beginning of each ingredient and maybe they can't be 100% of the people who supply their suppliers.

That is kind of what I was thinking- without FULLY researching every single element in the supply chain, they can only say what they believe to be the truth. It is like I don't completely ever really know 100% that a company is cruelty free unless I watch from start to finish all of their ingredients. At some point, I have to trust (or not) the information the give me. Until I hear or find out otherwise, that is all I can go by.

I agree with ChynnaBlue, HD. She took the words right out of my mouth. She does that all the time. It's almost unnerving. Smile

Yes, that makes total sense.

There really isn't any raw ingredient that hasn't been tested, at one time or another. Especially the newer more complex or advanced substances. Mass materials can be outsourced to other countries, and come back into our country and pass through numerous hands until they make it into a final formulation.

How do any of us really know, with certainty, if an ingredient/s or formulations, at any phase of the manufacturing process, have or have not been tested. Sadly, we don't and won't know until it is stopped.

No animal testing that they know of. That's because the companies supplying the ingredients are very clandestine about things and no one ever knows for sure. Except PETA. Not much gets by them.

Exactly. It is probably one of the most honest answers I've heard from a company in regards to this question!
