BnB is an old product! I wanted to love it! tried it long ago, when I was 10 yrs younger and with better skin, and I could never get any coverage- Drug store powders look the same on me! And sadly, primers don't change a thing either-

@BunSnoop wrote:I recently purchased the Laura Geller TSV in medium. When I watched the presentations, when the models would start with a clean face before applying any product, you could see they had freckles, age spots, acne scars, etc. HOWEVER, with my own eyes, I would see any imperfection(s) just vanish as they applied the product (balance and brighten).
How come when I put on the product, using the same brush as the models did, it seems like the concealing coverage is almost non existent?
What do the models do to get the coverage that I'm not doing? I watch the presentations and it does not appear they're doing anything different than me - they swirl the brush in the product, apply it to their face, and magically...any and all imperfections are gone!
@BunSnoop I'd like to know the same thing. Bought the TSV in Medium, tried it all, did not like the shimmer in the blush, lipstick didn't look good on me. I thought about keeping it all just for the foundation, but it didn't do much for coverage for me either. Back it went. I used to wonder the same thing about the IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. I did the exact same thing as vendor Desiree. She got full coverage to cover her dark undereyes. Mine didn't do a thing. I've wondered if she loaded her brush a lot more off-camera so that she had more product on the brush. I give up! I realized my skin's not too bad for 56. Sometimes the more you put on makes you look worse.

Here is what I do. I use the Balance and Brighten in fair. The medium is way too yellow for my pink skin tone. First I put on moisturizer then I use Master Primer by Maybelline. Let it sit for a few minutes. I use an IT cosmetic brush that is round and has a flat top. I get a good bit of the B&B on the brush and dob it on my face where I need the most coverage. I do not brush it on like they show on TV. After I dob it all over I go back and swirl it. I get more coverage that way. I don't have wrinkles but I do have redness and some age spots and this give good coverage. After this I use Doll 10 face prowder. This is light coverage. If I want more for all day or night I use Lumene CC before the Balance and Brighten. Hope this helps.

@Shanus Have you seen the book Ageless Beauty the French Way?
It's a fun and informative read. I was able to check out a copy. I recommend it for tips and just for reading because it has interesting stories in it.

The brush is what I was going to suggest. I've heard Laura say that if the bristles of the brush are compacted, or held together tighter, you will get more coverage.
I love Laura's Balance and Brighten. I used to wear Mineral Vail, but I like Laura's foundation better. It doesn't seem as drying to my skin.

@Shanus OK. You have inspired me to try something different. I dug out a sample of an oil cleanser I'd gotten and tried double cleansing at night (inspired by the book--Ageless Beauty the French Way-- you inspired me to read) and my face looks better already.
I also am using some Badescu toner little samples I had in a bag -- so I'm not sure what that is doing, but no harm seems to come! LOL!!! My emergency bag from a year ago is getting used up!
I never in this world thought I'd try oil cleansing but did and I am pleased with it. It is Chanel cleansing oil and I know it isn't too old--so I liked it!
I've ordered another primer and a couple of fresh foundations to try--so I'll report my findings in a few weeks.

Every time I have bought a primer I do it only on one side of the face the first time I use it. I have never ever seen any difference between the two sides at the the end of the day. I think it may make powder go on smoother when you apply it but with liquid or cream foundation I see no difference. Maybe it is because I have oily skin. I hoped it would make the makeup last longer or look better but never has.

@Shanus wrote:@Sooner Unfortunately, the cosmetic industry caters to the younger population. They usually have great skin and hair or at least close enough to purchase many of the products offered. The rest of us hunt endlessly for what will work for us.
@Shanus You will be proud of me! I have tried a few new things. First, in that book about beauty I told you about they talked about oils--which because of my oily skin I have avoided.
I tried the Chanel cleansing oil and I LOVE it! It was expensive but will last a long time--you don't need much. It goes on nicely, has no overwhelming smell, cleans off makeup and sunscreen and rinses off nicely! I picked it out because I love the way the bottle looked. And after all it's Chanel!
It was a treat!
I tried the Chantecaille foundation I used to love--far too. moist, It doesn't even go on well it is so greasy--even with a primer under (I had two samples of primer in my drawer). Total flop.
I tried the Bobbi Brown foundation in a tube that someone here recommended and I do like it! So far it is working well, and the sand color is a little dark, but I can put in a dab of cool ivory BB liquid if I need to!
In addition to the oil, I am now using a Mario Badescu toner (sample), CeraVe SA wash a few times a week, and some L'Occitane cream to foam wash I bought JUST pre-Covid quarantine that had mosty lingered in the drawer.
I can see improvement already--my nose isn't peeling and I attribute that to the oil.
Any thoughts on a very fine liquid eye liner so I can do a fine line just over my top lashes? For sensitive eyes. I am a very sensitive person it seems! ![]()
See what you've started? I worked most of the day Friday cleaning up my makeup drawer and getting rid of stuff that had collected in the bathroom cabinets and shelves.

@BunSnoop - You've received such good advice!
I'll just tell you what I do. I'm a big fan of B&B , but I'm also fickle when it comes to foundations!
I wear Fair. My complexion is warm toned and combination. I use a 3-part system that gives me really good coverage. I use the retractable Kabuki brush. First, I pull the brush out, swirl it over the compact, and buff it in my skin. Then I retract the brush, dab it on the compact with a little more pressure, and push the brush into my skin where my "trouble areas" are - in my case under my eyes, around my nose, and anywhere else bothering me. After I've pushed the makeup in, still leaving just a little of the brush showing, I brush it in. Finally I pull the brush all the way out, swirl it very lightly over the compact, and dust the last layer lightly over my face. I have rosacea, and this covers it completely.
Just something you might want to try!
@Shanus - I enjoy your posts too, and I've learned a lot from you! Thank you to you and the many others who freely give their advice here! ![]()
