Wen ladies...need your help....

I just recently had a hair dye disaster and had to have my hair double processed. It was dyed brown with permanent color which ended up waayyy to dark. I then had my hair highlighted with foils throughout to soften the effect of the dark base color and am much happier with the end result. However, all this color lift has taken a toll on the overall dryness and health of my long hair. I am planning on purchasing the Wen Remoist and oil duo to try to baby my hair along back to health, but have no idea which "flavor" to purchase...What do you ladies recommend for dry processed hair. I'm thinking tea tree or lavender??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Wen ladies...need your help....

I like a mixture of the 613 CC and a seasonal CC, like the current Summer Honey Peach. I never cleanse twice, never leave in any CC, but after rinsing thoroughly, I use one pump of the styling cream. I color my hair and it is long and fine.

Fig is the most moisturizing CC, but I dislike the smell intensely. I would not use the Tea Tree--in fact, I don't like any of the core CCs---just the 613 and some of the seasonals. My hair is very healthy. (REALLY did not like SAM or lavender either)

I also like COLORPROOF (brand name---sold only in some salons) in the PINK bottles. GREAT stuff. Made by Pureology guy.

Hi Holly,

Wen Fig has a trio on QVC. It has the CC, oil and ReMoist. Fig is the most moisturizing and made for dry processed hair.

Also, 613 will help strengthen your hair. That has the most protein.

Tea Tree is for scalp problems and Lavender is for volume.

Kate is right: Wen Fig CC has a very strong odor. You have to get used to it. It doesn't linger, though.

I think as far as the re moist goes, you will be fine with any scent. I believe them to be universal.

I would suggest that you choose based on the oil property you are after, or the scent alone. Some essential oils are known for different results. But with these, you will still see plenty of benefit for any oil you choose.

So, my advise is to go with the variety that appeals to you the most. The pomegranate rosemary gets lots of good feedback on the scent. Tea tree smells like...... tea tree. I have no issues with it, and use it regularly. But, the medicinal smell gets to some people. I also like the lavender.

You could also get 613. It was created as a quick shower treatment in lieu of an over night treatment. But you could still use it as an overnight anyway. More amino acids for strengthening.

I like remoist, but have you tried coconut oil? It works just as well if not better on my hair as far as conditioning goes.

Be careful with the Lavender. It hasn't been my experience personally, but a lot of people report that it can be drying. Personally, I'd recommend Fig to restore the moisture in your hair. My hair is fine, and even though it's in very good condition, the Fig is what I used for a deep conditioning treatment as well as for a few cleansing days following the color & highlighting service. After that, I go back to my usual cocktailing of several CC's.

I would even go lightly with the 613 until your hair gets a little moisture and flexibility. Use a Mosturizing formula and remoist first. Too much protein now might break it.

Re: Wen ladies...need your help....

As for the remoist - Fig or Pom are the most moisturizing.

As for TT or Lavender, I don't know if the remoist is different than the cleansing conditioner, but I find both formulas in the CC to be drying (which is why I use them in the humid summer months).

As for the oil - some people will say they are all the same, just pick the scent you like. My experience is that some of the oils are heavier than others, and I don't know if that means they are more moisturizing or if my hair just has trouble absorbing them. I have heard that TT is the best to encourage growth.

All that said - for a first time user, I would recommend POM for both products.

Re: Wen ladies...need your help....

Holly, the only difference in the Remoist is the scent. So, if you're getting the remoist/oil set, go with the oil you prefer. Tea Tree will be great for scalp and helping your hair grow out faster as well as for a hair treatment. To me, Fig and tea tree oils are the heavier oils, SAM and POM are the lightest. I'm going by how they feel on my face.

I have been in the same situation you are in and my hair is in good shape now after just a couple of months. My routine was overnight Remoist treatments 2-3x week, primed with a pump of 613 (priming means after I cleansed my hair, I put a pump of 613 in as leave in), then either TT or Lav Remoist. After I rinsed out the Remoist in the morning, I used fig as leave in, added 2 drops of oil to the 613 sc to seal in the moisture. 1-2x week I did an overnight oil scalp treatment, then cleansed with tt first cleanse, fig and 613 second cleanse, 613 leave in, oil and sc. I stopped using a heated tools, just air dried my hair because I found it extremely drying for my hair and caused breakage.

I know using WEN you will get your hair back in shape. Remember, however, WEN can add moisturize back into your hair and it will be in better shape, but the hair you have now is permanently damaged and you will need to be more careful of it until it grows out. Once you get the moisture back into it, it will not be so fragile.

Keep us posted on your progress. It can be done - I can personally attest to that.

Re: Wen ladies...need your help....

Chaz says the remoist and oils are the same. I've tried several and agree, none of the ones I've tried have been more or less moisturizing than the others. The most important factor in the remoist and oils for me is choosing a scent I want to smell for hours or overnight. It's all about the scent.

My favorite remoist is Sweet Almond Mint and my favorite oil is Tea Tree. I love the SAM oil, but I can't use peppermint on my scalp too often.
