3 posts of mine. I am too young to be having a senior moment.

Re: Wearing no foundation

[ Edited ]

Never wore it as I like my skin to 'breathe', plus it kinda creeps me out for some reason (I know - I'm weird, LOL).

And I was lucky to be blessed with my mom's good skin genes.

Also don't mind too much what facial "flaws" I have.

But (like with all things) to each their own, and the finished look with other makeup can be amazingly natural.

It's nice that there are lighter, sheerer versions like tinted moisturizer (especially with SPF for protection) if anyone wants to change things up.

I wear it because I like how it looks. My goal is flawless skin and I'm getting there. I'm thinking I may need a peel or something stronger than skincare can provide.

I have always worn foundation to work or going out.  I do find that hitting my sixties I have to be careful because foundation can emphasize what you are trying to hide.  It can sink into wrinkles and make them show up worse and eye makeup is tricky too.  I think I use less than when young although I was never one to cake it on.

I wear it to work, but not on the weekends,  unless we have a special event.  When we went to Italy the end of last year,  I forgot to bring it, and with a little concealer,  I was good to go (plus my eye make up, blush and lipstick!).

Like someone else said, I have foundation days, and no-foundation days.  It depends on where I'm going and who I'm seeing.  A little vain, isn't it?  My complexion is blotchy and my foundation evens everything out.

I like the clean, natural look, too, SeaMaiden, w/ a little lip & eye definition!

(If I were doing a cover shoot, I might think differently...or maybe not.)

There was a brief moment w/ BE foundation when they first came out with it. But I never really had to cover much of anything up. My overall skin tone & texture improved when I incorporated vitamin C, AHAs and retinol 10 years ago.

Love this discussion as it hits home with me, too.  I am 68 and adhere to the less is more philosophy of makeup - esp as I age. My routine is to put on Supernatural tinted moisturizer with spf (made by Philosphy), a little bit of eyeliner and mascara and a lipstick and I am done.  I believe a great color lipstick and healthy hair with stylish haircut can be our best friends as we age.
