Way Off Topic---What Simple Thing Did You Learn At An Embarrassingly Late Age?

I'll go first. Putting gas in my car. When I grew up you went to the gas station and an attendant filled your tank and cleaned your windows. When they changed to self-serve, my husband always took our vehicles in and did it. Yes he spoiled me, but I also spoiled him. I don't think he has ever put a load of clothes in the washer, etc. However there came a day when he was hospitalized and my sons were home so I asked my oldest to show me how to fill my tank. He walked me through all the steps and said , "Now go up and tell them which pump you used." I looked at the pump and said, "ok, pump 87." That's when he totally lost it. He said, "Do you see 87 pumps here?" I was looking at the octane number unfortunately. We still get a laugh out of this at family gatherings. I still don't pump my own gas because my husband is doing well but at least I know better than to say pump 87!!!
