Technically, we're not supposed to do our water line. I'm a nurse and along the road in my career I worked for a derm md for several years. He used to preach ad nauseoum about many things but, some things I agreed with. Water line was one of my pet peeves in a way because of infections college kids came in with. But, I was in college it was common practice for us to share make up. Because it's technically open skin and close to the tear duct. That's how any bacteria enters and we end up with anything from an irritation to a case of pink eye, sinus infection or worse. With all that said I have two pencils I use that I won't share with anyone. They are both chubby sticks so, you've got to be careful. both from Benefit. One called "Mr. Frosty" and the other is "Bright Eyes". The lighter colors are supposed to brighten the whites of our eyes thus, taking the attention off a dark circle, puffiness. Hope this help!

Why even do the waterline? Why not do a really thin, slightly smudged line on the outer two thirds of the under eye. It looks good and is non-irritating.

I just found this on Amazon and ordered it after reading all of the top notch reviews. I have tried everything and nothing lasts more than a couple hours on my waterline. Thanks for the tip!

I've had great results with Trish McEvoy's gel liner (a pencil, not in a pot). And just the other day I read a makeup artist raving about Maybelline Master Kajal Eyeliner (about $5!) -- said it was "great for the waterline".

With the TrishMcEvoy, I've perfected the technique of smushing it right into my lashline (it's really soft) and it's less messy than the waterline.

I'm not a nurse but I have a heck of a lot of common sense! What a dangerous and extremely unsanitary thing to do to our precious eyes! I always thought it was ridiculous.
