Waiting In Between Skincare Steps

[ Edited ]

Did anyone see this from Paula's Choice? The question is how long you should wait.

They are proposing that there is no need to wait.

I never did wait, and I have never had a problem.

They also mention when a product seems to ball up, where some here have experienced that. But I also think that if you moisten your skin in between you wouldn't have that problem.

I never wait between toner and moisturizer or at night with I use an extra product.

@Harpa  - thanks for posting.  Such good information because I have often wondered about this.

I use a hyaluronic acid after my toner so I hurry up and apply the HA since your face is supposed to be damp.  If I am using my retinol (I use every other night) I always wait a few minutes before I apply my moisturizer because my retinol is a gel and is a little tacky until it soaks in.

I don't wait either.  I don't think I've ever heard any of the skincare experts say you need to.  And earlier this week or last week I watched a Q&A from Susan Yara and that was one of the questions she addressed.  Her answer was no you don't need to wait and in fact shouldn't wait.

@Harpa - This is interesting- thanks!

The first thing I put on my freshly washed face is Josie Maran Milk. Then I get dressed. Next I put on sunscreen. I do let that dry a few minutes while I choose my eye, cheek, and lip colors. I follow with primer (LG's Spackle), and let that dry a minute. Then I apply my foundation.

If I'm wearing a serum foundation with SPF I put that on without using sunscreen or primer.  Smiley Happy

I do wait a little while between all the stuff I put on. I do other things while those things dry a little--brush teeth, dry hair, get dressed --that type of thing. Very rarely do I get those little balls from too many things at once. Read here some where from some one that she waits 15 minutes after using PTR retinol---no I never do that much time---

I wear a chemical sunscreen where that needs to be applied to clean skin (right on top of vitamin C serum). For chemical sunscreen it needs to absorb for at least 15 minutes w/o interference from other products in order for the sunscreen to work properly according to the manufacturer. Chemical sunscreen should be treated like a skincare product (much like a serum).

@SilleeMee

Susan may have mentioned sunscreen but since I don't wear it (unless it happens to be in my foundation) I didn't hear that part (if it was mentioned).  I was just happy to know I was doing something right Smiley Happy
