I had planned to purchase some fragrance and shower gel products as I usually do for Christmas presents. Read the reviews and now rethinking my possible purchases. Philosophy has always been my go to fragrance as well as Tova. Have always received compliments and always enjoyed using the products. Hate to see a good product being destroyed by a company trying to make even more $, with less of what use to be a quality product. Will more than likely not be purchasing Philosophy any longer. Hate it !!!

@LuluOnBeauty your answer is generic and makes me wonder if your main motive is to promote your beauty blog.
I'm guessing you never used philosophy prior to the sale to Coty? Because when Cristina sold it to Carlyle there were some changes but they made sense. Coty's changes do not make sense, the parade of new products has tired their customers out (just learning the names of them is a challenge now, but don't worry because half of them will be discontinued by next week) and their refusal to give Cristina a major role will probably, and I hope so, prove the death of the brand.
When she sold to Carlylye they had even set up a little office outside Cristina's for her daughter Grace when she wasn't in school she could be near mommy. Coty has been the opposite of kind to Cristina and to the customers.
Lori: not a beauty blogger -- but a former philosophy customer from 2002 until a few months ago.

Who decided this is the best answer? It's not even correct.
Cristina (no "h") sold the business to Carlyle Group in 2007. They are mostly a holding company. Although she made a fortune on the sale she was invited to stay on and did so. See my previous post. In 2007 Carlyle sold it to Coty. See my previous post. Cristina had no involvement in the sale to Coty and thanks to Coty has no involvement anymore in the company she created, nurtured and grew into a formidable business that could be relied on to deliver a quality product every time.

Tova was my all time favorite. I loved the scent and so did the people around me. I used it for many years, but stopped when the scent changed. I then used Pure Grace, but stopped because the scent just did not last. I still like the 3/1 Philosophy bath items, but am just playing the field with different perfumes.

Totally agree with you........ It's drugstore quality now AT BEST, and Coty(Philosophy) could care less about their customers opinions!

Change is most definitely NOT always good!

I totally agree with you and have asked the same question myself! I guess profits are still high enough for them now and ultimately, that's all that matters to them. Honestly, both companies (QVC and Coty) have left a bad taste in my mouth over this, mostly the way they refuse to even respond to the MANY customers asking about and complaining about the unwelcome change!! What happened to putting the customer first? If they don't respect us enough, they don't deserve our business!!

For bath products and lotions I have switched to Beekman 1802 and have been very pleased. I love the hand washes, bar soaps, hand and body lotions, as well as the lip balms. I think they are a better value and superior product. JMHO.
