Using Natural Bamboo Extract

Has any one ever purchased and used this product and/or added it to their hair conditioner? I've just started looking into how one would make their own beauty products and I am curious as to find out any results with this.

Re: Using Natural Bamboo Extract

sparklestar, were you thinking of using this topically or internally?

No, I haven't dabbled in bamboo. What I know about bamboo is that it is high in silica, which is beneficial for skin and hair. Another substance high in silica that I've been using, which you find in lots of hair products (should be in skin, too) is horsetail.

Lately, I've been adding horsetail to my hair when I blow dry and what I notice is stronger feeling hair. Nick Chavez includes horsetail in his hair things; I have an all-natural mousse that I sometimes use, which also contains horsetail.

I've been meaning to throw it in for my skin, too, but I've been playing around with other things, and my skin doesn't seem to need anything. Although I've been reading that substances high in silica will keep the skin firm.

Thanks for your response Harpa. I've been reading exactly the same things you state -- high in silica and is a good to use for skin and hair. Do you purchase many natural ingredients and can you recommend a reputable store or site?

Do you use it topically or internally? Is it an oil? Where would I purchase it? Thanking you in advance.

I do get some: rosemary essential oil (hair), echinacea (sometimes add this to my "anything" cream for neck)...

Vitacost has liquid extracts (has bamboo in supplement form); also Garden of Wisdom has way too many things I'll never go!

If you mean the horsetail, I get that at Vitacost. I sought that out specifically to use on my hair, but I also wanted to see what it would do on my skin, which I haven't tried yet.

Re: Using Natural Bamboo Extract

Probably some of the most ready-made results/reviews you will find are in the WEN forum. The Bamboo Green Tea cleanser in newish and selling out constantly. It has bamboo water and bamboo extracts.

I am looking for bamboo extract in it's purest form and not for a product with it as an ingredient. Thanks though.
