My experience with Ulta has not been pleasant unfortunately. Sephora and QVC get my business for beauty purchases.

I have not had pleasant experiences in ULTA either. I have been ignored by the younger sales associates when the store has not been busy. I have watched them wait on a younger person before older customers. I do not shop there.

I worked in retail before. I would definitely return back to the store and ask to see the clerk who rang it up. Most likely their name or employee number is featured on your receipts. There is no reason why they can't credit your credit card right then and there. They may even say a manager must do it and that's fine, but theres no reason not to.

I have enough store credit cards so don’t need Ulta CC. I use a major bank CC if I need to charge something at Ulta or when ordering from their online store.
Ulta store should have voided the original sale & rerung it correctly.

I have no issue with ULTA but I DO have an issue with their CC.
I HAD one (notice the word HAD). I thought it would be a great way to rack up extra points using it at ULTA and UTLA online. Until I discovered that when you use the ULTA MC for any online purchase (no matter who it is), they deduct the amount TWICE from your CC. So if you order $200 from Walmart, the CC shows TWO $200 charges. And those extra charges STAY FOR 2 WEEKS or more. In many cases, I had to call ULTA (not the CC company, mind you, but ULTA) to have their CS remove them. What is sad is that I didn't know they did this: not mentioned anywhere on their paperwork. It came to my attention when I'd placed a large order at ULTA and Nordstrom and a few other online retailers for the holidays and then went to purchase something in the store and it was declined. Couldn't figure out why until I checked my account online and saw all the double charges. ULTA claims "it's our policy and it's to make sure there is enough on your charge to cover the amount. Like at the gas station".
WTF?! Took a month until all the double charges were removed (because of me calling and complaining). Paid it off, cut it up and that was the end of the CC. Shady? You better beleive it!

I understand @Icegoddess . Our Sephora is smaller than our Ulta, but the Sephora sales reps are so nice and helpful compared to our Ulta's. I realize every location is different, but around here, I've really been impressed with the people working for Sephora. They take the time to help me find the right shades, demo products and ways to apply, and offer to help me order online if they don't have it in stock. It's small compared to Ulta, but I really like their personalized approach.

I had lunch with a former co-worker yesterday, and afterwards we decided to head to Sephora. The mall in Temecula, CA has an outside store which is a stand alone Sephora, and two stores down you enter the mall where JC Penney is, and they have a smaller Sephora located inside We started off at the bigger Sephora, but it was just way too many people, and decided to go to the smaller store which had hardly anyone in it. We were able to take our time looking around and had personalized help when needed. If I had to choose I would pick Sephora over Ulta, my experience with Ulta has been expired products on more than one occasion and more than one location.

I have had more problems with there on-line shopping.Spent hours calling being on hold. They mistakenly canceled my mailing when I changed my e-mail address took 8 months to strengthen this out. I call and am told it is fixed, but it never is. There computer department is the worst,I shop there a lot, but it is a hassle. I feel bad you are having problems, they don't fix things quickly.They have the worst web site. The store does not carry everything and supply is limited. I have cut back on my shopping at Ulta..

I would say these Ulta folks are just plain lazy. The problem was generated at the store level, and it should be solved at the store level. I'm glad I buy online at Sephora and QVC.
