So, this question is really about any store, but I have some errands to run today and so I wanted to check to see if Ulta had the items I wanted in-store.  One item was not available in-store in any of the stores in my area, but is available for pick-up TODAY.  How is that if there are none in the store?  Enquiring minds. 

The other item is available at one of my local stores, but not in the one in the area where I'll be running my errands, so I guess. I'll just order my items.

@Icegoddess I have always wondered about that too.  Why is it not in the store but available for pick up?

SO FUNNY AS I WAS LOOKING AT A FEW THINGS THIS MORNING AS I HAVE A GIFT CARD.

I could understand if it was only available for pick up since it might not be available for pickup TODAY.  I might have to pick it up tomorrow.  But, it said available TODAY.

I'm guessing, but perhaps their inventory management system hasn't caught up with the on-hand inventory. Retailers are super cheap when it comes to their point-of-sale systems. Many operate as a silo and only update once daily (overnight).

I've often wondered this also and the only thing I can think of is that maybe there isn't enough shelf space for all the inventory so they keep some in their storeroom.  Hence, it's still available and they have it but it's not out on the shelf "in the store."

This may not be of much help but just recently items that showed as not available in store were indeed on the shelf big as life when I went into that particular Ulta location. Just really can't trust the online info that much, I guess.

My husband suggested that maybe it was an item that had arrived at the store but hadn't been put into inventory or on the shelf yet.  So, the system knows it's been delivered but the staff hasn't checked it in yet.
