Made a trip into Ulta store #2 to exchange the broken Japonesque lip brush since I'd gotten the last one at store #1. Original purchase included another J. brush with BOGO plus a couple nail polishes, total $57. Brought in a $3.50 coupon and asked if they would honor it. (Figured they would, since I could have returned items and re-purchased using the coupon.) SA says sure, and she gives me $1.13 back. I go huh? She explains in a way I could not follow but that's how they calculate the actual value of a $3.50 coupon in my case. I know the polishes were OPI which was bought by Prestige, but still it made no sense given that the two brushes were about $21.
There was a woman waiting behind me with a baby so I just let it go.
I conclude it must be special Ulta math, like a law of gravity that causes a dropped item to fall sideways.
