UPDATE: Thank you for all the suggestions from my post in January. I used the Aveeno Calm & Restore Cleanser and Moisturizer for about a month now and they have worked wonders. Face is clean, soft, and moisturized. My face has not had any redness or irritation at all. I didn't think about cruelty free at the time and wish they were cruelty free, but for now I'll finish using and go from there. Thank you very much.
I need some suggestions. I will turn 56 in a few days and the skin on my face is horrible. Up until I turned 50, my skin was smooth, my pore size was not a major issue, no discolorations, etc. I look at all my driver's license photos and wonder what happened. I don't look anything like I did 5-6 years ago. I used to only use an inexpensive Jojoba oil to cleanse and leave on as a moisturizer. I can not remember the name of the brand, however I had bought it from Am@zon. I am unable to find the brand now. I have looked over the forums today for brands of Jojoba oil and Rose Water toner recommended by other posters. I need something to help cleanse and moisturize. Also, I need help with redness and inflammation. That's why I was looking at both Jojoba oil and Rose Water. I happen to notice someone also mention Witch Hazel. There are so many products that I find it very overwhelming. Just to add: I do not wear makeup except for lip products.
I don't know if I am emotional about my upcoming birthday, my change in appearance, or that I stopped using the Jojoba oil in the first place and fell for all the skin care hype and paid exorbitant prices for products that obviously didn't work. I'm probably upset about all of the above, to be perfectly honest. I don't want to look like I am in my 20s or 30s, however, I would like to look like a 50+ year old that takes care of herself.
So any suggestions would be helpful and if nothing else, thank you for letting me vent my frustrations especially about the whole aging issue. I'm sure there are others who can relate.

I have used Clinique since '78. I am 67 and get compliments on my skin all the time. Love the product!

Our skin definitely changes as we get older..........I use Merle Norman Cleansing Cream....it takes off my make-up on the days I wear it as well on the days on I don't. It moisturizes too....been buying it since the late 70's. I also like Abolene when I can find it....I used to purchase it at my local Wal-Marts until this so-called pandamic hit.

@NewNickname1x1000 I am older than you and my skin is normal and not dry. I love Kylie Skin Hyaloronic Acid Serum which deeply moisturizers and plumps up the skin. I use once a day. I felt immediate results from that serum. I also use Kylie Skin moisturizer and Vanilla Milk toner. kyliecosmetics.com The most important thing you can do for your skin is to moisturize.

@NewNickname1x1000 I know a cosmetic dermatologist who likes the Olay products. I would stay with the classic red jar which has the basic formula rather than the other variations. It is readily available. You could check them out on the Olay website.
My personal favorites are Natura Bisse and Kiehl's. Natura Bisse can be pricey. Kiehl's is less expensive but an excellent product line. I got my son started on Kiehl's many years ago. He looks much younger than his chronological age.

Have you considered seeing a dermatologist?
Redness and inflamation sounds like you should get medical advice. I
Personally - I'm a soap-and-water / exfoliation fan with a splash of witch hazel afterwards and a bit of Avon's Dramatic Firming Cream.. (I've used Kiss My Face Olive Oil Soap for many years. I don't have any skin issues - but I credit genetics. Women in my family have aged well.)

You might consider backing off everything for a while and just use a gentle cleanser like cerave, a gentle moisturizer (again...cerave makes a good cream and PM moisturizer), and then just a sunscreen during the day. This will give your skin time to recover and then you can explore what you would like to add to this routine.

My new favorite cleanser is Vanicream. It's gentle and great for sensitive skin.
My favorite Rose Water is Alteya Bulgarian Rose Water. Be careful when shopping for rose water. Alteya is a true rose water distillation. The popular brand Heritage is not, it's water with some rose oil mixed in.
Forum member, @SillieMee, recommends jojoba oil from oils center dot com. They have the liquid oil and the butter form and they are very reasonably priced.
For redness/inflammation, look for a product with the ingredients Centella Asiatica (also known as Gotu Kola) and Niacinamide.

If you get 20 responses here you are going to get 20 different suggestions. Maybe you should see a dermatologist to find out what you should use. It's possible you have become allergic to something you have always used. You could spend hundreds of dollars trying to find out what's good for your skin. Good Luck

Due to the redness you might want to see a dermatologist if you are able, that way you will know if it’s Rosacea or whatever.
If you get the go ahead there are many here who can suggest products for the concerns you mention.
Happy Birthday. 🎊
