How are we supposed to know what skin tones celebrities have? I know what my skin tone is, not what someone through the tv or movie screen is.

I really don't think this question is asked in sincerity but because the answer might help someone else ---Being a WOC there are hundreds of shades of tans, henna, cocoa, chocolate, sienna etc. Knowing that I am the shade Oprah would be if she spent a day in the sun is helpful. Knowing that I am between Oprah and Whoopie with a red undertone nails the shade to perfection. You do the very same thing every time you look at the shades on faces of people you don't know when the vendors present their color selections. Everybody knows what shade Joy wears to give you a QVC example. Since color on every monitor differs in quality , tint, having a real person wear the shade you are considering is very helpful. Surely you can tell the difference between Jamie, Josie and Laura?

shiloh I'm so happy you found your favorite. Their foundations won best of the best awards from some very impressive major magazines this year. The prices are so reasonable, cheaper than most, but of superior quality as we all know. I was absolutely giddy as the professional makeup artist whose history/resume you can read to know who you're dealing with, patiently helped me distinguish between the myriad of selections and find one just for me. I will be shopping till I drop as they say because I just found the eyeshadow color wheels . You choose a color you love and they bring up all of the products in that specific color or similar colors. Then of course they make some of the best brushes on the market. I'll have to get one at a time thought whew!
The lady at LANCOME wanted to help but was totally out of her element and admitted it. The shades they offer are fewer in number and vary considerably from one to the next deeper in line. Both companies of course offer free shipping and handling , no questions asked return, at no cost. But I'd rather have the perfect one right off the bat. I know I'll be getting just that from MAC.
Thanks for sharing!

That's good that it can help you, but I never know what skin tone anyone is unless they look very golden, then that's more obvious. And to me, Jamie, Josie & Laura look similar in skin tone, but they're all darker than me so that doesn't really help except to know not to chose the shade they use. Trying to choose shades on QVC based on the pictures they offer is no help to me, I just need to know what shades are for pink undertones and go from there. QVC's foundation shade choice is terrible.

Sorry, I quickly went toward showing my annoyance in QVC's foundation shade choices. I hope that does help some people to compare themselves to celebrities! I don't think it would help me though.
