Tria users...help

I bought the Tria when it was the TSV and it was finally delivered last week. I wanted to use it on my upper lip and chin, however I cannot get the machine to "beep" when it is on the places I want to treat. There is no problem with it on my arm. I called the Customer Service number and they had no suggestions other than to say that they are aware of the problem when treating certain areas. I am really trying to hold the machine flat against my skin but it won't work. Before I send it back, can anyone help? Thanks so much!
