I did have professional laser treatment on my face and chest about 10 yrs ago and was very disappointed. It was through my derm and with a Harmony Angel machine ( I think). It was for 5 treatments with a week off between them. All I remember was that it HURT like HECK !!! That rubber band popping was HORRIBLE.... so she never got to "full strength" with me. She kept saying how great things were going as she checked differences with a 100x mag mirror... LOL !!!! Obviously since neither I nor my family/friends carry a 100x mag mirror with us.... we saw NO difference.
Does this little machine hurt? I am a sissy when it comes to pain. Btw, I am a dishwater blonde (thats lightened), with med skin tone, and 56 yrs old.
I had a different type of laser therapy as mine required either general or twilight and local anesthesia (I did general on the advise of my Physician) and it literally vaporized layers of my skin off. I think the difference might be referred to as ablative therapy versus non-ablative but am not 100% sure on that. I know the type I had is referred to as ablative and you have serious downtime where you can't leave the house ........ for me it was close to 3 weeks before I felt comfortable in public again.
Sorry the treatment you had didn't work at all. Here's hoping the Tria will give you results that you had hoped for before. And yes, I do think it is a bit of wishful thinking that you'll see results sooner because you have to keep in mind that collagen rebuilding takes at least 30 days, sometimes more.
But you might possibly see more results at the end of the 12 weeks than those doing 8 weeks. That may or may not be true but it seems to make some sense to me. Either way, you will very likely see positive benefits either way.
From all I've read here (do a search for Tria week and the threads will come up,) it is a little unpleasant to begin with but nothing that anyone really could not tolerate. I think most became accustomed to it fairly quickly too. I don't think it will be as unpleasant as the earlier one you had as professional machines often are stronger. Plus the technology has improved in the last decade.
Best of luck ![]()

Just wondering about the ages of all the ladies using the Tria. Maybe others have said their ages and I missed it. I am wondering if I am too old to get results. I am 65 and started using the Tria the first week of April. I don't have much of a problem with sagging (due to years of Facemaster) except for the neck (due to heredity.) I don't see results from the Tria. For a while my many lines seemed worse, as others have said. Either that is better or I am used to how the lines look now
The sandpaper like skin is getting better. I don't think I am doing any harm so will go ahead for the 12 weeks, but think I may be wasting my time. If anyone else would share their ages or information from other message boards about the ages the Tria has worked for, please post it. Best of luck to all the ladies using the Tria & I hope you all have great results. Thanks

JBar - From reading through all the Tria threads and just being on these BB for awhile, my guess is that most are in the mid 50's to over 70 age ranges. You're really right in the middle and definitely not too old to use laser therapy. I don't think there is such a thing as too old. Many at your age still have professional ablative laser surgery (much harsher as it is done all at one time with strong professional lasers that vaporize the layers of the skin off) and much longer downtime. My downtime was 3 weeks!
Lasers will always work but I think what we will discover from this Tria, is how effective will home lasers work or even more specifically, how effective the Tria home laser works. I suspect the results are going to vary, as most treatments (as well as skincare) vary and there will likely be an assortment of reasons why. Were some units more effective than others, did some target their skin better consistently, did some skip nights here and there, maybe overall quality of skincare used to condition the skin during use, variations in how each individual's skin responds and many more. Even professional ablative laser surgery will produce different results with each patient - I know that from having it done and my Physician advising me of that before the surgery. He said everyone can respond a little differently and was trying to set my expectations accordingly. Mine happen to be very successful so I was pleased but it was h*ll to go through.
It sounds like you are experiencing very similar results at this point that others have and really won't be able to determine how effective it will be until the end of your 12 week protocol. But you are definitely NOT too old to be using laser therapy.

Hi Jbar and welcome. I turned 62 in March. I'm following the 8 week protocol and will start the 8th week tomorrow night. You will have the benefit of reading our results when and if they occur over the next 4 weeks of non-use before you finish your 12 week session. We will be interested to see what your results are, doing the 12 week protocol.

Hi, Jbar ~ I'm 61 and I am really not expecting to see any real results until after I end the active phase of the protocol and give my skin some time to respond. I'm sure we'll all be sharing our results (or lack of) when that time arrives.
I realized today that I don't really have any fine lines, per se, but just deep expression wrinkles and lines formed by sagging (like a Basset Hound). I don't expect Tria to do much with the expression wrinkles, and even less with the sag lines. Not sure exactly what I AM hoping for realistically, but I'll know it when I see it!
I figure if I'm pleased enough to think "bring on round 2!" then this will have been worthwhile.
I agree with wackers on the age range here. I'm sure others will chime in, too.
What are you hoping to achieve?
By the way, my sandpaper seems to come and go, but the tight, drawn feeling persists. I think when I overdo a specific area that's what brings on the sandpaper. I think my wrinkles are emphasized a bit somehow, and I attribute that to the dryness.

RE: Does this little machine hurt?
I agree with wackers (again) that it hurts far less than many of us feared. I thought I'd be in agony and wasn't sure I could actually tolerate it. Even though I'm pretty pain-resistant, I do have a threshold. I was TERRIFIED to go up to level 2, and when that wasn't intolerable, went to Level 3 the next night (maybe two nights later). It helped a lot to ice my face BEFORE treatment (thanks to Krissie) as well as after. After about 4 days of that I decided to go without the ice, and although uncomfortable, was do-able.
Just take your time and you'll know how to proceed -- or not. There have been some who chose not to continue subjecting themselves to this. And yes, you really do get used to it.
Good luck!

Thank you Maren and Wackers. I'm starting tomorrow night and I will be sure to ice my face, great tip! I'm just worried that my "laziness" will make this a waste of money for me. Like all the other machines I still have in boxes. Lets see....... dermawand, lightstim, nuface with all 3 attachments, and back in the day, the Linda Evans (I think) electrode hockey mask, lol. Now that was a sight to see on. I'm also thinking about spending a dollar a day on the Illumask now.

This has been the EASIEST thing I've ever used. I have to wash my face at night anyway, and this is just a quick 10 minute step between that and putting on my nightly skincare products. I returned the NuFace because I got to the point where I dreaded using it (too much hassle), and I haven't plugged in my LightStim in probably 6 months (took too long to cover all the areas I wanted to treat).
I was really committed to this (Tria) before I got it, but I was committed to the other gizmos before I got them, too. This has become a part of my routine, and I haven't even been tempted to fall off the wagon.
I hope you find this easy and fast as well. Good luck!!

Thanks wackers, Maren & shannara for responding & telling me I'm not too old for this. I figured most people taking part in this experiment were in their 50's & I know my skin has gotten a lot worse since I was 59 (: I just finished the level 3 treatment & it really hasn't been as bad as I expected. Hope I have a unit that is working properly. It will be interesting to hear of everyone's results as they happen. Good luck to all of us!
