I must preface this post by saying my hair is truly my crowning glory. I have always taken tremendous care of my hair and consider it my best asset. I have long, warm black hair- past my bra line. My hair is naturally wavy and some days is frizzy. Some days I use the long Calista rollers and those make my hair look great because the ions smooths things out. So when I saw a Calista heated round brush with ions in the July insider, I jumped on it.
I am 36 years old and I have never once in my entire life had gum or curlers or anything sticky in my hair. Until I tried to curl my hair with this thing. I just took the brush and a small section of my hair and rolled it like I would a curler. But it didn't unroll. It was completely STUCK in my HAIR! And it was heated! I was panicked and in tears. That youtube video of that girl who burned her hair off kept running in my mind. I sprayed loads of ojon detangling spray and glopped on conditioner and after about 30 minutes, I safely got about half my hair out. The other half, I had to cut out. Pic attached. I have so much hair that you really can't tell I lost any. That makes me feel better but I'm still upset about the whole thing.
I'm not blaming the tool completely, as obviously it is a combination of my skill and the tool. As it works fine just as a regular brush without trying to curl my hair. Be warned ladies. Always approach with caution.
