So now that I whittled my brush collection down I was wondering about how to organize them. Do most of you separate your brushes into eye, face, and lips? Also, I’m looking for ideas of what to keep the brushes in, preferably something affordable.

I use a simple plastic bathrom cup (where my makeup is located) to hold the most used brushes. I don't use glass beads to keep them upright. They do fine in a bathroom cup. Some stores sell the toothbrush cups with the holes in the removable lid, just remove the lid and use the cup as an option.

I don't like my brushes exposed, so I don't keep them in a container. I have a makeup bag with sections that I got at Target. My brushes are lying flat in there.

Also, the It brush cleaner works nicely. I tried sanitizing in the dish washer, and washing w/ my cleanser & water, but that just ruins them, especially where the fibers are attached to the handles.

I posted somewhere recently that my brushes are on my vanity in glass mugs...separated by use. One mug for face brushes (blush, powder, concealer), another one for eye makeup brushes and a third for my the brushes I reach for every day to make getting ready fast and easy. That mug has 1 fluffy face brush, a tightlining brush, concealer blender brush and a medium size fluffy shadow brush (MAC 217). I can do all eye makeup with a MAC 217 brush. It's my favorite.

Get yourself a nice brush roll. Amazon has so many. I put all my brushes in there and they are filed by purpose. Face, then cheek, then eye. I take a smaller collection when I travel.

I bought a container off of HSN that was supposed to be pens and art supplies but it works wonderfully for organizing my brushes.
