Re: Thinking about monicakm....

Thank god they don't have to do open heart surgeries as the only option anymore, years ago my father had open heart surgery, it was a harrowing experience for all of us.  They have made tremendous strides in the technology for heart patients.

Re: Thinking about monicakm....

I just logged in to give a quick update. I am still in the hospital. God willing I can get out of here tomorrow. Resting in my own bed with my dogs and my hubby will be much more healing than in the hospital. And I'm not complaining about the hospital at all. It is top-notch and I have always appreciated the care I've gotten here. Until they try to feed me food with no salt.  Now here's my thought, I've made it 64 years before this heart attack. I know I'm not going to live to be 128, don't even want to so could I just moderately modify my current diet and salt intake for this to build up to heart attack status again?

My Dior silver Essentials eyeshadow palette will be here on Monday.

Thanks again to every single one of you who wished me well and said a prayer. I really really appreciate it. Good night

Re: Thinking about monicakm....

@monicakm I just hope someone brought you a make-up bag...

And I am sure you can do this salt thing.  Maybe try new dishes that are low in salt, and you will get used to it and not miss it.  I eat take-out with low salt meals, and got used to it.  I don't know what the take out situation is in your neck of the woods, but maybe you can adapt this idea.

Take care!  We miss you!

@monicakm   I'm very glad to hear that you are on the mend and day by day you will recover even more.  There are plenty of ways to jazz up dishes with lower salt content- homemade spice rubs are great, homemade marinades are great, sauteeing food in olive oil and fresh herbs like rosemary and garlic etc.  Maybe a salt free seasoning could be good for you too- Mrs. Dash has salt free seasoning blends that are really delicious on vegetables and meat.  I'm glad that you are still ordering and enjoying your makeup- the Monday delivery of the Dior palette will give you something to look forward to.  Have a great weekend. You'll be home with your loved ones very soon.  Smiley Happy

Sorry you didn't get to go home but I hope you get to go home today!  Nothing like being in your own home, your own bed, with your husband, your fur babies, and enjoying your own schedule and your makeup!  You are such a ray of sunshine here and are missed so much!

@monicakm

Thanks for posting and glad to hear you're on the mend! Hope you're able to go home soon.

As far as salt, I hear it's much like a sugar addiction and the longer you go without or reduce it the less you'll crave it.

Eating is a learned behavior," says Van Horn. One way to stop your cravings is to simply reduce the amount that you consume. "In as little as three weeks, a person can significantly reduce their threshold for salt, and even find that foods they previously craved now taste too salty," says Van Horn.Oct 14, 2014

You could try reducing for a month and see how it goes.

I was able to break my sweet tooth this way, now I find most sweets too sweet. Also I can taste more of the nuances of other flavors instead of just in your face sweetness.

Take care!

Talk to your cardiologist @monicakm and find out why he wants you to reduce your sodium. Do you have hypertension? Some patients are not salt sensitive and there are tests to find out if you are.

Prayers for a full recovery. My advice is do everything you are instructed to do by your interventional cardiologist and cardiologist. They have your best interest at heart.♥️

@monicakm It's always a good sign when things start to irritate you (like being able to leave the hospital). You must be on the mend.
