Re: The Products? or Pretty Packaging?

I’ve been enticed by packaging, not gonna kid myself. I will say this, Colourpop has some of the best eyeshadows I own, and they are very affordable. I buy their eyeshadow palettes for the colors and I know they are good quality. Makeup Geek is the same. Great quality and affordable!

Many of us are drawn to the beautiful packaging. That is why sooo much money is spent by cosmetic companies on same. They know exactly what they're doing. 😄

Well, we're women and we're drawn to beautiful, fancy things.  We all remember Avon jars and bottles of yesteryear!   I used to buy Avon products like they were going out of style because of all the gorgeous "collectors" jars and bottles.  Some of them were worth more empty than they were full and you'd find them in "antique" stores at high prices.

I feel like if the products can be a lower price forget the fancy and pretty packaging! Has anyone noticed that Skinn has upgraded packaging and that the products have gone up in cost? I dont mind plain packaging to keep prices lower.

Re: The Products? or Pretty Packaging?

I am more interested in the product ingredients and how it performs for me than packaging. My grandma, mom, and aunt had lots of beautiful containers on their dressers for perfume, powder, etc. I remember thinking how pretty they were then.

I noticed all the pretty pallettes in the stores and pictured on these threads.  Makes me wonder.......... are you attracted by the pretty packages or the actual product inside?

I'm guilty - I used to buy any cosmetic or skin care in a lovely bottle or fancy pallette. I didn't know much about what was inside, but if I loved the bottle, I bought it.  I'm still drawn to the makeup and skin care aisles because of pretty colors and packages.  It's a "girl" thing, I guess.

How about you?  Do you think you're drawn in by pretty packaging?  (especially now with all the Holiday sets)  Or the quality of the products?

@tototwo  If the product (or set of products) is not great, fancy paper or ribbons will not change my mind about purchasing it. As far as gift giving, I’d rather purchase a good lotion, palette, etc. and do an inventive, pretty packaging job myself.

To me the Product is far more important than any packaging.
