Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum

The founder and creator, who seems just lovely and sincere, is presenting this. She explains that it is harvested from red algae from the ocean in Japan (they're not specific about which ocean or sea). Um, I seem to recall a significant nuclear reactor leak after the tsunami and again another leak this past February. Personally, I would not be jumping on this one.

OMG.....I was just thinking the same thing. This product sounds lovely and I really am interested, however, in the back of my mind I am concerned with the contamination especially in the water in Japan. The news had reported significant amount of radiation in the water fairly recently. I don't mean to be ignorant and I don't know the specific geography of Japan, but this thought is in the back of my mind.

yes that is a great point! And algae could certainly be affected by the radiation and if it doesn't die from it, could contain that radiation for years and years, well after the spill actually occurred. It doesn't seem real safe does it?

And of course, no ingredients listed on QVC.

ETA: I just noticed Tatcha does have the full list of ingredients of products on their site now- that is great!

And of course, no ingredients listed on QVC or on Tatcha's site- just "key" ingredients. I always find it suspicious when companies don't list the COMPLETE ingredients on their own site.

I'd imagine algae would hold on to radiation for quite some time. Sorta surprising it can even be used. Not gonna darken my door (or light it up!).

There is a whole lot of ocean and sea surrounding it. I'm sure not all have been affected by the leaks. Then again, I just saw a news report tonight about seaweed being affected by it in California. That is quite a distance!

A valid concern, but it doesn't stop there. They've found radiation from Fukushima everywhere. Those of us on the West Coast of the US have plenty.

I really don't see how anything from Japan could be unaffected.

Tatcha's customer service is the absolute best I've ever dealt with. I'm sure they could address this. Well, maybe.

Why was Victoria crying at the end of the presentation?

I've given up on the notion that some product --no matter the bargain or highest of price is going to ""fix"" the issues I have with my old lady face---I had a face lift some years ago and I'm seriously considering another one---and I don't want to be irradiated either
