I'm having some trouble with this - it seems everything I want to purchase is either tested on animals or made in China. These are deal-breakers for me. But one thing is good - I'm saving on a lot of "impulses" that I would ordinarily have purchased.

Me too, gonnab. I'm not a fan of animal derived ingredients in cosmetics and skincare as well.

One of the sources that I've found to be helpful while making my choices is Logical Harmony.com

It's a comprehensive site that lists skin care and cosmetic companies by category, ie, who tests, who is owned by parent companies that test, cruelty free and so on. She also indicates those who are vegan, meaning they don't use any animal derived ingredients.

You can't assume it's all companies. I have Dr Denese and Josie Maran TSV's including Josie's holiday TSV. All products say made in the USA. The Tarte Facebook page has been riddled with complaints since an Asian company purchased them. People basically feel they are guilty of animal testing by association. Even though they insist they don't test on animals. All in all a poor choice to align themselves with a company who does. Bad business decision given how they have marketed themselves. And manufacturing in China is like the icing on an already bitter cake. I have a good friend who is Asian. Grew up in Hong Kong. They were taught from a young age not to eat anything or use any type of topical product from China. There is a reason for that.

All the holidays kits have been made in China for years now. This is no surprise. That's how they can keep the cost so low. I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed. That's no fun.

I remember some of the Tarte holiday values last year being made in China. I bought a set of Stila lipglosses and they were the same way, made in China. I bought a few smashbox tsv's, again, made in China. I noticed the only thing ever made in China with the Laura Geller line is sometimes the brushes maybe, at the most. The makeup is always made in the USA or made in Italy. Mally's are also made in the USA, and the volumizing mascara is made in Italy. So, this being said, not ALL the lines have their holiday sets made in China, but many do. These are just the ones I've noticed and others have made note of some I don't know about.

Doesn't surprise me. TSVs are such a huge discount off of individual products, they have to scrimp somewhere.

I can't even watch her because all she does is go on and on about how all-natural and therefore healthy her products are compared to other brands. Give me a break. Snake venom is all-natural honey. Whenever I hear someone saying that, they immediately lose credibility.

Im so glad to see this was on the forum. I thought I was going crazy. They eyeshadow or mascara seems to make my eyes lids itchy. Then I noticed my eyelid was peeling! I love the colors, but I seem to be having a reaction. I cant say if it is because of China or just the product. I have never used the eyeshadow, but I "used" to love the mascara, but this formula seems cakey and clumpy. I will be sending back.

Some of the threads have said that IT Cosmetics are also make in China. I do not know if this is true, but that is what I have read.

I have and love three of her products -- Bye Bye Undereye concealer, her first matte eyeshadow palette, and her new limited edition holiday matte eyeshadow palette. All three are of exceptional quality and are manufactured in China.

It Cosmetics does not test on animals. They are certified by PETA.

x123 - I was specifically referring to Tarte.

I ordered the tarte TSV and when I received it and saw that almost everything was made in China I returned it the next day. I won't be ordering anything from tarte again!

It is true; not all of them, but the majority of IT Cosmetics are made in China.

Don't make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.
