I'm watching the Supergoop presentation, and the woman is making some claims about how this sunscreen (unlike other sunscreens) protects against "infrared rays." Well, I want to do some more research before asserting anything too strongly, but this is seriously triggering my beauty BS sensor.
A basic physics course will teach you that infrared radiation is, um, heat. Not a secret, super-potent UV ray (in fact, unfrared radiation is on the opposite end of the electromagnetic spectrum from UV radiation. UV radiation is very high-frequency. Infrared radiation is very low-frequency: even lower than the colors of the rainbow.)
I'm going to check Supergoop's website to see if any more information is given, but for now, I'm thinking this is fishy. So this sunscreen's supposed to protect your skin against...heat? How, and, more importantly, why? It just doesn't make too much sense.
