First of all, tret does not cause spider veins. What happens when you use tret is that there is some exfoliation going on plus some inflammation happening especially in the beginning of usage. The inflammation (redness) will cause small veins to enlarge and be noticeable and then combine that with loss of the outer layer of skin (exfoliation), veins will be more visible.
Over time the tret will thicken the dermis and make those visible veins less visible. They have been there the whole time. You just couldn't see them until using tret. But be assured that the tret did not cause them.

These sound like broken capillaries. My suggestion is to be more gentle with your skincare and application

Not to brag but I have great skin for my age. After reading about tretinoin as a preventative to aging, I gave it a go. Now two weeks in on my lower right side of chin there’s a tiny bit of red and a few tiny spidery red lines. Never had this before. Is this a side effect of tretinoin?
