Re: So I wrote to Olay about Animal Testing...

It's not enough. No animal testing is all that is acceptable, never mind all their other baloney, which is what it is. And why do some products have to be cleared because of laws? Are they that lethal?

I haven't bought anything under the umbrella of Proctor and Gamble for years. I spend much of my time in stores studying the packaging from what I've learned on the internet.

Go to their Facebook page and ask the questions. I have done that with several companies. It is seen by so many people.

It is amazing how much P&G owns!

Still, even if you post complaints on their social media sites, I truly do not think it will matter much. They only care about the bottom line ($$) and until that is affected, they won't change. Not that it hurts by any means but I don't think it is a big motivator for them to change. Many of the people who post for them to stop testing on animals STILL buy their products so what motivation is it for them to change? We have many on these forums that care about the issue, just not enough to forgo their favorite beauty (or other) product and this is just one small forum. The same thing applies for all consumers across the board. So what real motivation is it for them to change?

I've been doing some research and L'oreal, P&G, and other bigname companies have been saying the same thing for YEARS now- the whole 99% of their products aren't tested, yada yada- and so nothing has changed for that other 1% for many years. And I truly don't think it will, until it is actually outlawed (which it probably never will be- too much $$$ in those big companies so they can influence lawmakers).

Re: So I wrote to Olay about Animal Testing...

When I go to a Facebook page, I simply ask, do you test on animals? They always get back to me promptly, but of course with the old answers.

If just ten people would go to their pages and ask, I believe they would take notice.

If one does it? Not likely. They have to be constantly pestered, but no one is willing to do that, except me. I have seen this tactic work before there ever was a Facebook on another message board with another topic. A bunch of us bonding together for our cause. To Les Moonves, the head guy at ABC years ago. It took about six months, but it worked.

I'm afraid animal testing is much more complicated and I doubt I will see respectable results in my lifetime. Can't say how sad that makes me.
