Re: Smoking habit and effect on beaurty!

Well, I certainly don't condone smoking, but I'm in the camp that believes genes plays a bigger role.  I smoked from the time I was about 15 until age 49.  That's a long time!  I was finally able to quit for good 20 years ago.  I don't look anywhere near my age (not bragging, just stating facts).  My skin is very wrinkle free and youthful looking.  Now, that's not to say it won't catch up to me at some point but so far, so good.

I don't follow an elaborate skin care routine either.  Wash with dove soap and follow up with Oil of Olay moisturizer and Clinique eye cream.

I'm not much of a drinker - just a few cocktails a year.  Maybe that makes a difference; I don't really know.

I could have written your first paragraph. I smoked as a teen and then quit when I I turned 50. A long time. I do not look my age nor do I have any wrinkles, just a few lines. I've taken good care of my skin always plus the genetics are good with me, too. TG for that.

[ Edited ]

where i see the effects of thirteen years of smoking, is lines around my mouth. When I purse my lips it looks like I'm dragging on a cig. The same repetitive muscle movements every day for many years, locks it in. I smoked throughout my twenties, quit when I was 32. Thankfully the rest of my face looks good, great skin genes from mom and dad.

Lipstick and gloss migrates into every line unless I religiously use a lip liner.
