@QVCkitty1

As far as using less, at almost 80 I found I am replacing "color" more than anything: upper eyeliner at the upper lash line, mascara, brows, some primer around the eyes ( dark circles ) and lipstick.

My moisturizer is tinted and has SPF 30 in it.  If I am going out, I will use Laura Geller Balance & Brighten powder.

I never used eyeliner until recently and only a thin line near the upper lash line....couldn't believe the difference it made ( a Stila pen ).

@Applecakes  In the am I use a microfiber face towel (size is a 5X5 size) with warm water just to wipe my eyes and get the evening moisturizer off.  Eye cream and then an spf 30 sunscreen, (Elf), unless I'm going to be outside with the grandkids.  Then I use Aveeno spf 60.

At night I wash with either Cerave creamy cleanser or First Aid Beauty cleanser.  Eye cream and La Roche Posay night cream.  That's it. Quick and simple.  When I wear mascara, I use a tubing one because they are so easy to remove, especially with the microfiber face cloth.  Hope that helps.

I think it really depends a lot on your genes.  My sister in law is one who never or rarely wears makeup.  She dosen't do a lot as far as skin care either.

She wears sun screen and a big hat when she's going to be in the sun yet her skin is not so great looking.  She has a lot of sun spots, freckles and wrinkles.

@haddon9I totally agree  All other things being equal, very light skin does not age as well as pigmented skin. The giveaway here is freckles, which generally go with light skin.

@shoesnbags Agreed. She is very fair.  My DH's family are of Irish and Scottish background.

@QVCkitty1  I've posted this here before--I very rarely wash my face before bed, even if I have a full face of makeup! And while I was working for 45+ years, I wore a full face 6 days a week. Just lucky, I guess, that it never caused my any real problems. I started using moisturizer in my late 20's, and did go through a couple spells over the years where I used multiple skin care products--never lasted long, though, because I'm lazy!

Now, at 69 and retired, I still wash my face once a day, in the morning, no matter what I put on it the day before. Most days I use Dr. Denese Tinted Defense Day Cream, and a Pallodio blush stick...that's it, if I stay home. One or two days a week, I just use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I always spray my face with WEN Replenishing Treatment Mist before applying moisturizer.

I only do full-face for church on Sunday, or if going out in the evening.

I use a gentle scrub once a week...and that's it for my skin care. My skin is still oily, I have a little sagging, some fine lines, a few brown spots, but that's about it.

@vermint   Not sure what to say...probably should eep my shut, but going to sleep with a full face of makeup?  I can't imaging that.

As for your skincare habits now, I'd still advise a good face wash at night and whatever skincare you use (or none) is your business...whatever works for you, but please cleanse at bedtime.

@Shanus

It would be ashamed of me. Since being home from my bypass surgery, I have gone to bed multiple times without washing my face. I hated doing it but I was just too exhausted. I'm doing much better now though and back to enjoying my skin care routines.

@Shanus I know, I know...and you're absolutely right! It's pure laziness on my part. I have gone through spells when I did cleanse at night, but it's been awhile.

I have very fair skin and never had a tan.  I took care of my skin as a younger woman,  but spend more time now at age 80.

I have a routine that works for me, and I usually wear sunscreen and makeup around the house.  I will add that I am aware that I have to make an effort to stay hydrated, as my new cardiologist has advised.  Many of us forget about that.

I also take a number of supplements, as I realize I need them.

I feel better when I replenish what I am lacking in my diet.

Everyone is different, but I think I look the best I can for my age.

I had a seriously accident in March I spent 3 weeks in the hospital. I got two women fawning over how young I looked. I used nothing for months. I just wasn't feeling well enough to do anything. Ive slowed down on everything except cruelty-free sunscreen,
