Has anyone come across this term on Tik Tok or YT? I don't spend much time on TT and apparently, that's where this term started. I saw it on YT. I've been doing this for years tho and preach it here. It's applying several layers of HYDRATING products. This is what my dry and dehydrated complexion needs. I moisturize but for me, hydration helps more. My face is firm and plump and I know it's the multiple hydrating products I use. Here is the video I watched about it. Hopefully this will help someone's dehydrated complexion.

Sounds like a waste of products and time to me. I'm one of those who likes to keep it simple. To each their own.

...and that's perfectly fine but I've been "skin flooding" before TT made it a thing and MY face NEEDS it. I don't buy products because it's trendy.

Sounds likje just another term that someone made up to get you to use a lot of products.

I was already using a lot of hydrating products (but I did just add two more). No one twisted my arm. I'm just hooked on the feeling and look of my complexion with "skin flooding". Someone probably made a similar comment when the car was invented. "Why spend hard earned money on a car when a horse can do the same thing?"

Skin hydration occurs when the epidermal reservoirs become full of water. The size and number of reservoirs vary between people. Some have more than others. The younger you are the more reservoirs you have also. The most significant factor affecting hydration is evaporation from the skin. Loss of an adequate skin barrier in other words. Barrier function degrades with age and so dehydrated skin happens.

I make a hydrating cocktail using all my favorite moisturizers, apply and let it set for about 10 minutes.

And LOTS of women will probably fall for it.

If simple works for you and you like the way you look using simple, that's great. I like what this does for my complexion so that's great for me. I was not feeling good when I put my makeup on today so I skipped on the layers of hydration that I normally use. A few hours after I had my Dior foundation on, I noticed my skin felt dry and tight. That is a feeling I've not felt in many years. A dry face accentuates lines. A hydrated face is firm and plump. Plump, well hydrated skin reduces the look of wrinkles and fine lines.
"If you want to fight off wrinkles, dry, itchy aging skin and give your outer layer a healthy glow don't allow yourself to get dehydrated in fact one of the most important things you can do for your Skin's health and appearance is to keep it hydrated all day long"... Google

Yes, new ideas are made up every single day. Society evolves and aren't we glad it does. Some ideas are helpful and some are not. If you happen to not find it helpful, that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile to others. Like I said, I've been doing this for many years and my complexion shows it.
