Re: Skeptical and nervous to try WEN

I've been a long-time WEN user without any hair loss associated with it.

I say this because I began losing quite a bit of hair a few years ago. Luckily I have lot's of it. I suspected everything, but then realized I had started a different formulation of a medication I was taking, prescribed by my regular doctor's associate. I spoke with doctor's office who assured me it couldn't be the medication. I did my own online research and found that hair loss was a side effect, a very rare one. My regular doctor changed my med and the hair loss stopped and the new hair came back healthy as ever.

I also went through CA treatment with a pretty strong immunotherapy and didn't lose any hair.

I've continued using WEN this whole time - love my POM - and continue to have fab, healthy, shiny hair. I know a ton of people using WEN and no one has experienced hair loss.

Re: Skeptical and nervous to try WEN

I can understand your concerns. When my daughter wanted to try wen I found the hair loss horror stories and was worried. I saw so many good reviews though and business seems to be thriving so I figured it was worth a shot. I have experienced a lot of hair loss from illness, medications and stress. Bad hair loss I went from a normal head of hair to almost a bald patch. If I put my hair in a pony tail the "tail" was about the thickness of my pink finger. It was so embarrassing I couldn't put my hair up and it looked terrible down. Long story short. We did give the wen a try. My hair stopped falling out. I have had a couple stints of heavy shedding but not even half of what I was loosing a day before. Last time I got a hair cut my hairdresser said that while the strands are baby fine I have quite a bit of hair. I put half my hair up a couple weeks ago and that tail was about as big as from my whole head pre -wen. I've only been using wen since March. Not everyone gets lots of hair growth though. My daughter has thick stands and lots of hair, thick to the point where a normal elastic can only go around her pony twice. Thankfully her hair has not gotten thicker, but it is in amazing condition now. No more tangled mess and it shine. She has model hair it's that nice. It grows nice too. Clearly I am a big wen fan

Re: Skeptical and nervous to try WEN

I say try it. Honestly, I don't think it's possible for it to MAKE your hair fall out. It doesn't contain any ingredients like Nair does to eat away at the follicle and cause hair loss. I really think that people think it's causing their hair to fall out because it has the consistency of a conditioner; when you use a conditioner is when all the loose hairs come out. You don't notice it when you shampoo because the consistency isn't as thick. I lose handfuls sometimes, but this is because with Wen I am able to go multiple days without washing. The longer you go between washes, the more hair you will appear to lose. But you lose approximately 100 hairs a day anyway!!! Sorry for the rant, but NO, Wen does not cause hair loss! I actually notice the opposite; with consistent use I notice less hair fall out than with shampoo. Please don't be nervous to try it again. It truly is good for your hair and scalp, the ingredients list doesn't lie. If you are wondering which product to try, Chaz Dean's website has a product recommender based on your answers to a couple hair related questions. Good luck!

Re: Skeptical and nervous to try WEN

Hi Stella! Welcome to Wen!

In regards to the hair loss, Wen doesn't cause it. When I switched to Wen and no longer used Pantene Curly Repair and Protect, my ends were no longer glued together. They broke off because of that. Wen 613 came in the picture a few months later and is doing the same thing.

Wen Sweet Almond Mint was the first product I tried. It didn't work for me a year ago, but it's a staple now.

Wen has a learning curve. You have to figure out the technique as well as the formulas that work for you.

Give it another try and be consistent. I'm sure you will love it this time!

HB - this is exactly the same thing that happens to me when I use 613 or the Seasonals. I've just never seen it written like that before, but that's exactly what happens, lol!

Re: Skeptical and nervous to try WEN

I had heard so many great things about WEN here that I decided to try it AFTER I had experienced a tremendous amount of hair loss. Went from a full head of long hair to a thinness pretty much like bichon_emma described. WEN turned out to be a bit of a mess for me then - my hair looked even flatter and more greasy and I was pretty disappointed.

Well, the hair loss stopped about 6-9 months after my last of three surgeries over two years. The anesthesia had really done a number on me. My stylist thought my hair had become too sparse to handle WEN at the time. Since my hair has recovered I started using WEN and I absolutely love it - and I also noticed I lose less hair during showering now that I no longer use regular shampoo.

I think most women understand our appearance isn't the most important thing but it does help when you feel like you are looking your best. After my body has taken a beating over the past few years the one thing I've been able to fix is my hair. I really can say WEN made a positive difference.

Well you will not loose hair unless you are allergic to something in it. If you used it before then i think it is safe to say you can use it safely

Right! What manufacturer will say "You will see extreme breakage when you stop using your previous product and switch to ours." But that's usually what happens.
