The most common problem with any kind of sunscreen is that most people do not apply enough to get the SPF protection stated on the bottle. ONE-HALF TEASPOON is needed to cover the face and neck. When I apply that amount it feels like I've applied a lot and too much but that's the right way to do it if I want proper sun protection. Try doing that using a SPF foundation or a tinted SPF moisturizer. It doesn't feel or look good but it's the right way.

@SilleeMee   no reef here either, although we are close to ocean!  But alas my surfing days are kapoot! So, not to worry.  It's the front and back yard sun I'm fighting.   I agree about sunscreen application. An ample amount should  be applied at least 20 mins before you go outside or sun. Applying it quickly in the sun, and over body lotion already applied doesn't give you the best results.but, better than not.    I also personally follow re-application directions if out in sun for a while. Because some sunscreens don't last if in pool or on more than 2 hrs. Depends.

@shoekitty

I live at high altitude, about 7,000 feet above sea level. I really don't think most ss will last 2 hours under the UV radiation we get here.  I wear a hat and long sleeves plus re-applying the ss. Everything helps. At 14,000 feet I got the worse sunburn in my entire life. Never again.

ISDIN makes  a product - photo eryfotona actinica ultralight - emulsion  broad spectrum spf 50 mineral sunscreen - just shake well ,applies easily and absorbs right into the skin - no white cast . ( also as mentioned Cera ve invisible mineral sunscreen 50 for face is also good and they also make a Cera ve hydrating - if someone does need moisture - mineral sunscreen SPF  30 face sheer tint - comes in shades light ,medium, and dark.
