Re: Silicone Sensitive. Need recommendations please.

I am older and can't do the 'cones' either. I now use Jakare rose hydra mist, followed by Josie Maran Argan Milk and a touch of her oil. For pigmentation I use Jakare Brighten. None of these products have caused milia for me (I've tried lots over the years too & fragrance causes as many problem for me as cones). I have sensitive dry skin.

Thanks for clarifying that Paula's Choice products are fragrance-free. Any scent is from the ingredients themselves.

I tried a sample of the BHA cream about a year or so ago and was good with fragrance but unfortunately what I purchased had been reformulated and couldn't handle the smell. Never tried more other than cleanser.

Thanks for reply.

Nicks, I use the BHA lotion and am one of those few who actually like the natural fragrance (sort of cucumber-y), but I see in reviews that many do not. PC is currently reformulating the product in order to address that. Just an FYI.

Re: Silicone Sensitive. Need recommendations please.

Nicks, take a look at NCN Pro Skin Care at ncnskincare dot com. Also read her blog for recommendations about your particular skin care objectives. I'm not advocating her line, per se, it's just a suggestion for you to look at to see if the product ingredients will work for you.

Some of the products do have essential oils in them but not all of them. None of the products I happened to look at had silicones in them. There is a tab for Product Ingredients on her website that lists the ingredients in her products so that you can quickly determine which ones might be right for you.

For general anti-aging and dullness, you want to start using a retinol product and an alpha hydroxy acid product (glycolic acid, as an example) to assist with cell turnover. I'm still searching for a product that helps fade hyperpigmentation. The NCN website has a Formula 5-5-5 serum and Formula 7 serum for hyperpigmentation, but I haven't tried either one.

I have not had the chance to use any products from NCN skin care but have read good things about the line from other threads on this forum. As soon as I finish up what I'm presently using, I'm going to try a few of her products. Do a search on this forum for NCN and see what threads pop up about it.

I like Simple Moisturizing Cleanser (drugstore, WalMart), no dyes or fragrance.

Philosophy's Hope in a jar night cream contains no ""cones"" and works great for my sensitive skin. I cannot use cones - they break me out every time I try.

I just looked up the ingredients on the Philosophy website. Fourth ingredient is dimethicone.

Nicks, unfortunately, all of the ROC products (except the cleansers) contain silicones, plus a strong fragrance, so you might want to take a pass on that brand.

I am also sensitive to silicones and essential oils, but am hesitant to recommend products until I know your skin type and what issues you are trying to address. My skin is super sensitive, I have rosacea and combination skin, so my needs in skin care may be different from yours.

I don't have rosacea but super dry and sensitive to strong fragrance, silicones and some oils. Skin easily irritated.

Thanks to all responding, I'm just slow....!

the ROC cream I use has no "cones" in it and was recommended by my dermatologist also

the entire Philosophy skin care line contains a lot of things that cause milia on my skin overnight; if you have any sensitivity to milia I would avoid all of it

Re: Silicone Sensitive. Need recommendations please.

OP, I second the NCN rec. I, too, have an issue with 'cones and they seem to be everywhere. I love PC but have to stay away from the products that are high in them like her retinol and antioxidant serums. I've been very, very happy with the NCN items I've tried.
