Shower gel question

I have always been a soap user...Dove...but I have a few nice shower gels I received as gifts and that came in kits. I can't bring myself to re-gift them, so I want to start using them.

For those that love shower gels, how do you like to use it? Do you use one of those "poofs," or do you use a washcloth? your hands? I tried some the other day just lathering it in my hands, but felt like I was wasting too much...
