I got my first shellac nail polish done today. I tried Solar and Gels (one time each) and did not like having to have my nail beds ground. after I had a couple of fill-ins, that did it for me. too expensive , too time consuming and too much damage.
now that my nails are recovering from that ( it's taken about 2 months) , I decided to have a shellac application. I keep my nails short and need to have a neutral color because of my work, so I got a pale, sheer pink. I didn't realize it would be as expensive as it was ( $40. what does shellac cost in your area? ), so I chose this color also so the new growth wouldn't be as evident and it will last a little longer.
now I'm curious if you can do this shellac at home . is the UV light absolutely necessary?
