Re: Shadow Base? I need a Good One

There are several good ones out there now. I really like the ones from Smashbox, Tarte, and LORAC. Also Wet and Wild Fergie Take on the Day is a good drugstore one.

Re: Shadow Base? I need a Good One

I use Laura Mercier (Sephora offers samples if you don't want to be obligated to buy up front) and I'm really happy with it. The color I use is a soft vanilla color with a slight pearlized effect (there are other 'colors' in her primer line to choose from, though). It's actually pretty enough to use as an eyeshadow alone but it is a primer. I NEVER have a problem with my eye shadows staying on or creasing. I can put my makeup on in the morning and by late night my shadow is still on and true to color with NO creasing.

Re: Shadow Base? I need a Good One

For anyone with tea-stained lids, you would need a primer that helps to cover the discoloration. I have no clue why, but mine are severe, with the staining extending even to the sides of my eyelids.

I use either Laura Geller's Eye Spackle in the jar or Estee Lauder Double-Wear concealer in the very lightest color. The latter works well because it is not an emollient formula. On top of one of these, I use a base eyeshadow as well.

This combination goes a long way in covering the staining. I don't really have a problem with eyeshadow creasing either, but then my eyelids are no longer oily.

I use Laura Geller's Vanilla highlighter or I use Urban Decay. These two are the best I have used.

by the way, Mally does sell her eye base alone, as a single.

MAC Painterly and Urban Decay are both equally good. If anyone wants to see comparisons, Hot and Flashy on youtube did one recently to compare a dozen shadow primers, it was very good to see.
